DaveNotSoSideways Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 No idea what went on. Still working on resolution. Sorry chaps.
Mother Teresa Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 No probs- just glad it wasn't a glitch my end! I was a bit lost when it was down though, didn't realise how much I enjoyed the site until it wasn't here .
Gerard Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 All I know is it get very slow, then stopped. Glad it's back online
DaveNotSoSideways Posted February 26, 2009 Author Posted February 26, 2009 There was a major ISP issue yesterday nailing everyone on my package, seems my account was disabled. I love the way you can speak to 4 people yet noone can even offer an explaination and you get bumped around departments, what is the point of having tech support when they cannot even tell you what the problem is or help you or give a timeframe for repair? The hosting has been a bit jumpy lately so I will look into another company? Anyone know any decent small hosting companies, need a linux package for this forum? Same deal everytime I get involved with large companies...I don't like large companies, I don't like the impersonal service and total lack of instant resolution to problems.
AJ.Lintern Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 You could try NDO http://www.ndo.com/ - they're the ISP I use but they also appear to do hosting. Not the cheapest around but have always had good support from them.
James Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 I've always used Racksense - they're nice and small and get back to you really quick. UK based.
mattius Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 I use a few isp's for various websites 34sp.com - Super reliable awesome service, but you pay for what you get. example : www.graemeinglis.com Fasthosts - Good Speed Reliable but not much support and average packages example : www.mattinglis.com Patrick Internet - Small Host but great value for money and good support, just not sure about reliability as the least used website runs off them website offline at moment so no example All my sites are php linked to mysql dynamic sites.
Oli Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Glad its back, though i did get a lot more of my uni dissertation done while it was off-line! Oli
Royboy66 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 phew! I can put the razor blade down!! 8) ;D
wfarnworth Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Dave How much bandwidth is the site using at the moment? Avoid FastHosts like the clap: http://fasthostshell.blogspot.com/2007/12/welcome-to-fasthosts-hell.html During all good blackouts there is a baby boom......... Wayne
JamesR Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Great to see the forum back online. I'm gonna lurk a while and see if I can break the 88 days barrier. :DI've been stuck on it for ages...
Oli Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Great to see the forum back online. I'm gonna lurk a while and see if I can break the 88 days barrier. :DI've been stuck on it for ages... I'm on pretty much all day every day, even if just lurking in the background while i'm working but never get above the 4 days, is strange!
rlubikey Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Anyone know any decent small hosting companies, need a linux package for this forum? I use Andrews & Arnold http://www.aaisp.net/ who also have the rather amusing url, http://sod.ms/ Richard
JamesR Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 I'm on pretty much all day every day, even if just lurking in the background while i'm working but never get above the 4 days, is strange! Yes, its jammed and at exactly the speed I need to travel through time. Strange that. Its just that my post count dropped below the 1.2 gigaposts a day to enable me to power me to actually travel. (I'm sure i've written this before). Deja Vu. ;D
