GHR630 Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 On a personal front, things are looking up. My security clearance is through so I start my new post on Monday, as a Specialist Instructional Officer with the MOD. My daughter has just learned today as well that Barclays are not making her redundant thoough 40% in her role are not so lucky! And my daughter's boyfriend started his new job yesterday, so altogether a good week so far!!!
JamesR Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 That's great news hope the new job goes well. Can you instruct them not to lose things please. Laptops, cds, missiles....
zetecspit Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 its the nukes I am most concerned with Not a bad week here, busy teaching (=money) and a holiday starting Friday. Peachy.
Jony Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 great news george! if your family are anything like you, you all deserve it!
Royboy66 Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 George! Excellent news! we gonna see the Busted Knuckle flying up some Hills this year now?! 8)
mattius Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 congrats george glad things are getting better, tis a shit time at the moment for most people, just gotta go with the flow see what happens.
GHR630 Posted February 11, 2009 Author Posted February 11, 2009 Matt Mate you are soooo right. It's gonna be hard for a lot of good people. Roy - yep it's gotta be done! I will be on less money than before but I will work something out. Obviously, money has been tight the last few months because I don't get any benefits (because I have a small Army pension) so I need to get my finances straight. But I shall certainly try and get out a couple of times. I need to renew my licence and memberships which adds up to a fair sum before I enter anything. ANyway, I have been working on the car preparing it for another season - I will post some stuff soon.. Thanks everyone on this forum for the moral support over the last 4 months.
AndreGT6 Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Yeah been down that road before too. I have been going out of my mind in my current position, but it pays the bills. So I have to be grateful for that. A.
Mother Teresa Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Andre, you're sooo right. Aspects of my job are taxing/frustrating/boring: but, it pays the bills and for that I am very, VERY grateful.
AndreGT6 Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 I think a fair bit is self-inflected. Stupid Triumph and this unrelenting dream of becoming a vintage racer. Clouds my judgement. A.
elsieolly Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Congrats George Just the triumph to worry about for a change
Ash Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 (Bit late) but really good news George. Wish you the best of luck.
GT6Steve Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Andre, you're sooo right. Aspects of my job are taxing/frustrating/boring: but, it pays the bills and for that I am very, VERY grateful. I think that so often these days...I'm working at about half my capacity and being bored frustrated with menial shite but I keep telling myself (and my younger partner) that we're lucky to be in a viable plant getting a check each fortnight. So many good people aren't! >
GHR630 Posted February 16, 2009 Author Posted February 16, 2009 It will be sometime before the developed World manages to get itself out of this mess. I am coming to the end of my working life (6 years to retirement) so this looks like my last job unless the government decides to cut the post. I am resigned to the fact that I will no longer have the challenges and rewards I enjoyed before. That doesn't mean that I won't make the most of it and work towards promotion to the next grade 'cos that's the way I'm made. Must get up now, have a shower, put on the 'old whistle & flute' and report to work for my induction. Feels like the first day at a new school.
GHR630 Posted March 7, 2009 Author Posted March 7, 2009 My entry is in for the Wiscombe Park Hill climb 25/26 April. Best get the car finished!
