On a personal front, things are looking up. My security clearance is through so I start my new post on Monday, as a Specialist Instructional Officer with the MOD. My daughter has just learned today as well that Barclays are not making her redundant thoough 40% in her role are not so lucky! And my daughter's boyfriend started his new job yesterday, so altogether a good week so far!!!

Matt Mate you are soooo right. It's gonna be hard for a lot of good people.

Roy - yep it's gotta be done! I will be on less money than before but I will work something out. Obviously, money has been tight the last few months because I don't get any benefits (because I have a small Army pension) so I need to get my finances straight. But I shall certainly try and get out a couple of times. I need to renew my licence and memberships which adds up to a fair sum before I enter anything.

ANyway, I have been working on the car preparing it for another season - I will post some stuff soon..

Thanks everyone on this forum for the moral support over the last 4 months.

Andre, you're sooo right. Aspects of my job are taxing/frustrating/boring: but, it pays the bills and for that I am very, VERY grateful.

I think that so often these days...I'm working at about half my capacity and being bored frustrated with menial shite but I keep telling myself (and my younger partner) that we're lucky to be in a viable plant getting a check each fortnight.  So many good people aren't! >:(

It will be sometime before the developed World manages to get itself out of this mess. I am coming to the end of my working life (6 years to retirement) so this looks like my last job unless the government decides to cut the post. I am resigned to the fact that I will no longer have the challenges and rewards I enjoyed before. That doesn't mean that I won't make the most of it and work towards promotion to the next grade 'cos that's the way I'm made.

Must get up now, have a shower, put on the 'old whistle & flute' and report to work for my induction. Feels like the first day at a new school.
