Nor Cal Mike Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 My name is Mike. I live in Northwestern California where the gigantic redwood trees grow. My area is mountainous with a lot of nice twisty roads between my town and the Pacific coast, about 35 miles distance from my home. I won three frame small frame Triumphs plus a mountain of parts that I have collected over the years. I have a 64 Spitfire MK1, a 65 Spit MKII and a 73 GT6 MKIII. The 65 Spit MKII is my current project. I am in the process of making her to a go faster roadster by installing her tub on a 77 1500 Spit chassis that I have mounted a GT6 MKII drivetrain including rotoflex. I'm going a step further than most Spitfire sixes by using the Spitfire from engine plate and mounting, thus moving the whole 6 cylinder lump back in the chassis as it belongs. I like your site. It has a lot of technical discussion which is exactly what I want to see. Here is a link to my rudimentary Triumph photo site: http://s287.photobucket.com/albums/ll148/Me_an_my_pics/Triumph%20Album/?action=view¤t=GT6MK24.jpg Mike A
Nor Cal Mike Posted April 6, 2009 Author Posted April 6, 2009 I noticed a major typo after submitting this post. It states that I, "won three small Triumphs". It should read "I own three." I guess that I am a failure as a typest:-( Mike A
lordleonusa Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Welcome Mike, There are not many Triumph owners around these parts, nice to see there is one more out here! Léon Medford, OR Triumph Vitesse Cv
Nor Cal Mike Posted April 6, 2009 Author Posted April 6, 2009 Leon, I believe we have exchanged emails before. I coordinated the Northwestern Spit-Together in The Seattle area two years ago. Our conversations were regarding that. Mike
SteveA Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Welcome Mike, good to find another person moving the Triumph six back in the chassis. ;D P.S. Can you edit your first post as the link to your photo site does not seem to be showing?
JohnD Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 WElcome, indeed, Mike. and do not tbe botherd aanbput tyope - it;s thsihgn of an unclutteerd mind! John
Nor Cal Mike Posted April 6, 2009 Author Posted April 6, 2009 I wouldn't have been worried about the typo so much except the way my post read, you would think that I had hit the Lotto jackpot or something. I'll se what I can do about the link. Mike
Mother Teresa Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Welcome aboard Mike- where-abouts in Northern California are you? I have friends in San Francisco and did a bit of touring around that part of the world.
Nor Cal Mike Posted April 6, 2009 Author Posted April 6, 2009 I live 175 miles or 281 KM north of San Francisco. My town is a little burgh called Willits. I found another of my Pic sites that I can link to. Somehow it got buried in my Triumph album in a secondary catigory. I'm not too well organized in the internet department. Here is a link to my Spit 6 photos: http://s287.photobucket.com/albums/ll148/Me_an_my_pics/Triumph%20Album/Spit%206%20Album/ Mike A
SteveA Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Thanks for the links to your pictures Mike, it's always interesting to see how someone else has done the same modification as me. I did wonder why your gearbox mounts were in a different place to mine, but then I realised, no OD
Nor Cal Mike Posted April 6, 2009 Author Posted April 6, 2009 Nope, I don't have an overdrive box for a GT6. I have two J types with single rail boxes but I don't know how to make them work. Just as well since this is a country road car that will rarely se more than a double nickel in mph. I would love to see more of your pics if you have a link that I could connect to. I will post more of mine as it progresses. I am currently rebuilding the rotoflex hub and brakes. I have a call out to a driveline guy who will take the 6 inches out that I need to fit the driveline. Following that it is on to the font uprights and brakes exhaust, install body rectify the tunnel and patch a bunch of rust in the tub. Where would the proper place to post these? The engine swap section? Mike A
SteveA Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Mike, I need to organise my pics and get them up online, I'll send you a link later. Probably best if you start another thread in the 'Members Cars and Project threads' section to post your progress http://www.sideways-technologies.co.uk/forum/Blah.pl?b-MB1/ *Edit* you can find more of my pictures in this photobucket album http://s701.photobucket.com/albums/ww20/SteveA_2009/ If you want any more pics just PM me.
