Nick B. Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Crap. Women should NOT be allowed to drive > I was in town witing for the lighths when some woman decided to reverse her car into mine. She didn't see me - she said. :'( :'( Bumper is dead. There is a kink in the frame just behind the rad - I fear the left hand side of the frame has been lifted. Paint has cracked on the bonnet where the lamp panel is joined with the centerpanel. Shit
SteveA Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Oh crap indeed, sorry to hear about this, atleast it is still drivable. what on earth was she doing reversing while at the traffic lights :-/ Hope you get it all sorted without too much hastle
mattius Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 oucha, little comfort but your bumper has done a decent job of protecting the rest of it. lucky it wasnt a chealsy tractor wee have round here, they just go straight over the top, seen a mgb with its front end totally flattened by one.
DaveNotSoSideways Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Bad! Just on the road too. I'd be amazed if that has damaged the chassis? Insurance job then?! Milk that for every penny.

She had to reverse to let the bus in. The bumper did its job fine - glad I did not go for the debumpered look. Looking at the bumper I realise I have been incredible lucky.. while having bad luck Cheers Nick
Mother Teresa Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Bummer :. Never fails to amaze me how stupid people can be. Think i'll go and fit my front bumper!
2.5 Chris Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Sorry to read/ see, whats happened Nick. Some people just have no awareness of whats around them on road.
sparky_spit Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 And to top it all she's let her bloody cat walk all over it!
Nick B. Posted June 16, 2009 Author Posted June 16, 2009 And to top it all she's let her bloody cat walk all over it! ;D ;D ;D My own cat :
Nick B. Posted June 16, 2009 Author Posted June 16, 2009 Actually - I think the cat had a party on the bonnet the other day: Just snapped a few pics when I took the car for work Cheers Nick
bonsaiisuperstar Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 A shame. But accidents happen I suppose. Good reason to upgrade something!
Royboy66 Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Well Nick, at least the bonnet is not badly damaged, think i will leave my front bumper on!! on the bright side ,it coulda been worse eh! Hope it sorted soon! sort that cat out too!
Hurricane1500 Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 I'd be well pissed > bad luck mate "Didn't see you" (is just the worst reson in the world when your at a stand still behind her) = didn't look but as said it could have been worse
GT6Steve Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 As a counterpoint, I'll tell on myself for a lapse that angers me to this day. I was in the 69 E Type and attempting to navigate a drive thru bank window. They're sized for SUV's here so I was aggravated. When my money finally came I couldn't open the cash door from my angle. And I'm aggravated. I put it into reverse right into some poor student driver that had pulled up behind me. We can say "too close" but I was the idiot that reversed without seeing him. Busted my taillight, no damage, beyond mental to the poor kid. I've never been to that poxy bank since! That's why we call them accidents. It only takes a moment of distraction. Doubly so as our cars are so small. I long ago learnt to pick my parking carefully as my lovely Spitsix was totally invisible behind the average grocery getter. That said, I hope your damage is limited to the bumper. Glad the bonnet wasn't creased...
Guest Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Happened to me in my Vitesse last summer,an arsehole in one of those big VW Toerag 4 x 4`s decided he wanted to be in the filter lane on a roundabout and reversed into me while waiting to pull out, bonnet and headlight damaged after just having it painted it..knob. Steve
Nick B. Posted June 17, 2009 Author Posted June 17, 2009 Bad! Just on the road too. I'd be amazed if that has damaged the chassis? Insurance job then?! Milk that for every penny. Yes - insurance job. The chassis has got a small kink just behind the rad - will get some pics. The steering geometry isn't affected as it is in front of the towers - it is purely cosmetic. But I fear that the front rail will be slightly higher in the left side than the right side. Not to mention how the extensions on the chassis holding the bumper looks. For now I have just tucked the car aside. The garage calls today to say when they have time to look at it.. To top everything of - last night going to bed the cat had vomited in my bed. What a great day :X Cheers Nick

hrgserv Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 beware i had something similar happen many years ago, and the following day it was ""what do you mean, you ran into me" and they went to the insurance saying that, if you hit someone up the rear in the uk its automatically your fault, caused loads of hassle, and was due to go to court but 2 days before they caved in and payed out in full, because of an independent witness that came forward (thank god)

The thought ocurred to me that she might deny later on. It is a sad world.... Cheers Nick
Jonb67 Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 attempting to navigate a drive thru bank window. You went ram raiding in an E-type? f'kin' hell Steve, you're the coolest guy I know.
popeye Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 HI Nick, I am sorry for the car :'( :'( She didn't see you ... because of a reverse... ... and a make up in the sametime and give a calll. Unfortunatly the damages are not to important. Hope the frame in intact. In few weeks it will be a bad memory. I hope you will find a gentle bodyshop.
smithy Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Lucky man, that looks not-too-bad, although perspective may be tough for you to achieve at this moment. I was reversed into in my Mk IV by a delivery truck; that's why I have a GT6 bonnet! Soon fixed and a bad memory as popeye rightly says. The price we (sometimes pay for driving these little low heaps. Re cats, don't mention cats. One of mine bit me (while I was trying to show it how the ruddy cat flap works - it's new to the idea), and I'm off work today with a big swelly hand, eating antibiotics. I can't even use this "extra" day to work on the car either... :'(
GT6_sleeper Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 MR_GT6 should be able to post a photo of what happened to the rear of his gt6 when he was stopped at some lights when a women wearing a burkha did not see him or the red light gt6's do not do so well in rear end impacts and for the people who have not seen this low speed crash test (dont know how to post a video like a pic so here is the link) http://triumphspitfire.nl/video/crash-test.wmv
