Steve, anyone,

What is the splined section diameter for std Triumph studs, and the Freelanders ones (I assume them to be the same!) ;D

So these M12 studs I have misordered for an Austin, with a splined D of 13.3mm can stay :)

The austin has much smaller holes!

Thanks very much Steve!  :)

Bought two new front tyres/tires for my Toyota 4Runner today from the local tire store (Ed's Tire Factory), terrific service. $300 for two tires in 275/70x16, including fitting, balancing and mounting.

No charge to dispose of the two worn out tires, one worn out, went flat yesterday and the other with a nail in it.

While they were off the vehicle, they even removed the (rusted on) rear brake drums and checked the rear shoes, which were OK.

They also checked the spare for leaks, (none found), and replaced it under my vehicle.

In 5,000 miles, they will free of charge, check and rotate my tires, which are guaranteed for their service life.

Good Service that, and the owner sponsors the local hot rod/custom cruise every year.

Saved $50/tire over the local chain-store tire supermarket that advertises so heavily.

But most noticeably, they did NOT use air tools to re-tighten the nuts!

To tie up a loose end, and further to the earlier discussion about wheel/lug nut seat angles:

I have removed the rather large photo from earlier and replaced it here with a much smaller version, plus another one actually showing the seat angle, as best I could photograph it in poor winter light.

I am advised it is probably 60 degrees.

In case anyone was wondering, I covered the original 'Aleycat' badge with a Triumph badge in red on black - as used on the 1980 TR7 -

and this being my unused spare tyre/wheel, I left the protective sticky covering on the badge to protect it.

for those of you buying freelander studs the clp9037l is not actually in the feelander parts list its listed as clp9037 i suspect that whoever is supplying the l version has found a source of copies, i personally would rather pay just a little more for the genuine article just to know the the part is to the correct spec.

I have direct accounts with britpart and bearmach, and access to allmales parts for landrover stuff none of them list an l or lg (all are slightly expensive trade than you payed retail) part just the plain part no if they are genuine they will have an industry standard hardness rating on the stud

p.s i believe the rimmers part with the l is a copy item as well not the original having compared the genuine with the rimmers part

Léon,

These are from Mansfield 4X4, the packet has a L suffix and the invoice shows a LG suffix.

Stamped on each stud is the letter A, no other discernible makings were found.
