lotus62 Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 can anybody tell me where I can order top ball joints that fit into the spitfire vert.link? or what manufactor it is, it looks like it is M16x1mm tread thanks, rick
mattius Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Those wishbones are custom made, a balljoint wont just fit into a spit upperwishbone. GT6Mike makes them ask him.
JohnD Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Available off the shelf from Medway. "Studded male rod-end bearings" See: http://www.medwaypt.co.uk/MPT_Rod_ends_male.pdf Pages 7, 12, 16, 19, 20, 22, depending on type and quality you wnat. John
lotus62 Posted November 18, 2009 Author Posted November 18, 2009 @mattius, I am not asking if the wishbones are custom made, I am looking for a balljoint that will fit in the spitfire vert.link, not in the wishbones, I make the wishbones myself (custom made) @ JohnD, thanks john but I am looking for balljoints, not for rod ends/rosejoints I have seen them before and I have them on the lotus europa but don't remember where they came from all I remember (from building the top wishbones for my lotus) they are M16x1
gt5r Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 I'm using Ford Transit ball joints - look similar
tim_trinda Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 can anybody tell me where I can order top ball joints that fit into the spitfire vert.link? or what manufactor it is, it looks like it is M16x1mm tread thanks, rick Rick You can get them from Caterham https://www.caterhamparts.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=144&products_id=197&osCsid=7a240628e92627feba5e6c91873a9c79 Not sure what the thread is but its much finer than M16x1. The wishbones are from Mike his design uses two nuts (1" AF) so the camber can be adjusted without splitting the joint. Cheers
gt5r Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 ......... You can get them from Caterham https://www.caterhamparts.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=144&products_id=197&osCsid=7a240628e92627feba5e6c91873a9c79 ......... Yeah Ford Transit steering rod end
GT6 Mike Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Fairly sure Transits are alot larger, As Tim mentioned, the ones I use are available from Caterham and have a M16x1mm thread. Caterham joint is based on a Lada joint but with more thread machined.
tim_trinda Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Yeah Ford Transit steering rod end ...but with a different thread?? **Edit** Oops crossed post
