I think the way points are out.
I haven’t seen them myself yet.

@Hamish I'm primary entry for my "team" and I haven't heard anything formal on the way points yet.

@Escadrille Ecosse Last time around in 2023 the Glasgow stop was at Gartcosh Social Club, Glasgow G69 8AS, but it could be different this time around.

Pretty sure there's a list of checkpoints in the latest Club Torque mag, but maybe provisional. I'm not at home so can't check but think Gartcosh is included.

An interesting (and disappointing) note was also in the magazine that it's been harder to get a licence from MSUK this time, and the Wales section had to be changed to avoid going through so many villages. I think that means the wonderful twisty section is on longer part of the route. If @TimBancroft is about maybe he can confirm

Sad to see Falls of Shin not on the list.

Yeah that was a really nice stop. Popham aerodrome is a laugh on the last day though, just beware of the evil speed bump when you're going in. My car's not that low but I had to take it diagonally to avoid scraping.

Hang on! No Badgers Holt either?! Gutted.

Although we spent far too long queued for ice cream there last time around and ended up fighting to make up time for the rest of the run. I don't think we even got out of the car at Popham, book signed and back on the road.

This is getting closer.
went to see the acclaim yesterday for some video shots that I hope to put together so the lads can send them around for fund raisers.

Before I go direct. Does anyone know if this years event is being carbon off set ? If so it may be good info for the videos

this was a first go at a short “one take” attempt.

Haven't heard anything on that score. I was gonna go the fbhvc tree-v route again for ours.

Yeah I have used that for my racing in the past

Since you have already decided to enter my advice is now redundant

 This made me chuckle. Having done one, my advice would be to enjoy the night run up to JoG and the rather magnificent run back down across Scotland to the Glasgow area. Then meet up with Colin and Phil at the pub, have a good meal and some beers before retiring to a hotel for a good nights sleep and make you way home in the morning :ninja:

If you decide to ignore my advice then hope to see you at Gurston on Sunday afternoon

I note a certain Sideways vehicle as poster child on the website!

WHAT!?!?      Where's that, Andrew?

Oh, found it, on the FHBVC website's Tree-V page, at: Carbon Offset | Shop

That's all right then,  £25 seemed a rather low price for the car, even if it was a scammer.

Sorry John,

I should have been clearer, didn't mean to give you a heart attack!

Apols about Falls of Shin and Badgers being being out.

May try and use them next time.

Otherwise, the route is much the same as for the last couple of RBRRs.

I am ignoring Nick....lol!

Just over 2 weeks to go, in fact 2 weeks tomorrow I'll be setting off to head down to the start area.

Is it just me or is it "quiet" this year? I'm not seeing much buzz in the social media or forums. Even the plebs whatsapp group is relatively quiet.

I don’t know what’s “usual”

but I think the lack entries is quite telling.

I'll be interested to see after your first event whether your conclusion is "cool but never again" or "already planning for the next one" - time will tell!

There’s plenty of behind the scenes car preparation activity, but mostly playing out in WhatsApp /Faceache groups rather than on the forums - which is a bit of a shame in some ways as it doesn’t share the vibe outside the cliques.

Everyone who think they are up for it should try it once…. It certainly is an experience.

Lack of entries…… well, it’s a fairly pricey undertaking. I also think the fundraising aspect is off-putting for some (unfortunately) and also the pollution/climate change aspect is starting to bite for some too.

Agree on that score but personally happy to live this one vicariously

This too.

Although I push back on the pollution bit. A thousand miles in a car who's initial carbon price was not only 30-40 years ago but is essentially trivial compared a modern of any description and particularly an EV, is neither here nor there in the scheme of things. By my calculations on carbon cost I'm doing the planet a favour by driving my 4L Scimitar instead of replacing it with something new. But people don't think like that. Unfortunately.

I also suspect that the concept of driving an "old car" for that distance is a concept that is increasingly felt as abnormal, even to the people that have old cars these days.
