thebrookster
Martins thread just gave me an idea, be it good or bad you can all judge! How about we list the cars we own? No rhyme or reason, but seems like a topic for the Coventry Inn surely? I'll start the ball rolling. Following Martin's lead, youngest to oldest. My Cars: 1. Ford Ranger 2020 2. Triumph Herald Convertible 1973 3. MGBGT (year I can't recall, about here though I think) 4. Triumph GT6 MK2 1969 5. Triumph 2000 MK1 1968 6. Triumph Herald 1200 Saloon 1965 Other Household cars: 1. Skoda Fabia 2015
RogerH
My oldest car was a Bond MK F Minicar from the early 1960's Is it a car or a tricycle I really enjoyed driving it. Roger
zetecspit
1. My everyday Hack. 2016 Suzuki Baleno with the excellent Boosterjet engine (3 cyl, 999cc, little turbo) 2. Gills everyday is a Y2000 mk2 MX5. Now on 65k, but going soon as not ULEZ compliant and our kids live inside the ULEZ zone 3. mkIV spitfire. Believed the earliest chassis number in the UK (215) Slightly modified 4. 1979 Dolly Sprint, recently put back on the road, then I managed to set fire to the engine bay. Almost recovered from that. Will get a lot of use 5. 1964 Vitesse 6 CV, known as Vicky. Inherited from a friend, best driving vitesse (or herald) I have driven, very standard when inherited. A few minor tweaks underway, and some bodywork due this winter. 6 2006 MX5 mk3. Bought (out of pity from youngest daughter after it ran low on oil, now rattly engine) Will be Gills everyday once I have "fixed" it. 7. 1937 Singer Super 9. Inherited along with the Vitesse. Dreadful driving experience, but thankfully went to a new home yesterday. My advice, don't buy anything with a steering box, crossplies the width of a bike tyre and shocks that don't absorb. It was cute though, and very advanced (OHC, SU electric fuel pump, hydraulic bakes, 2 windscreen wipers, sunroof, rear window blind operated from the drivers seat! AND the best wind up window mechanism ever, so smooth) Edited September 25 by zetecspit
mark spit
Oldest to youngest 1. 1971 Spitfire MkIV, not being used at all sadly, owned since 1993. 2. 2009 Honda Jazz, wifes daily, bought 2012 I think. 3. 2014 Citroen C1, bought in 2018 to teach my kids to drive in and now their shared transport as they both still ive at home. 4. 2020 Kia Ceed estate, bought in January, mine for work etc, part-exed a 16 year old 150K Focus diesel estate in (270 quid), which went really well but windscreen chip and knocky rear suspension meant next MOT was very iffy. Someone bought it but it's gone to the scrappy now. Mark Edited September 25 by mark spit
egret
Oldest to youngest 1. 1972 Spitfire mk IV. Currently in best condition it's been in under my ownership. 2. 2004 VW T5 2.5TDI It's minicab spec. but the two rows of back seats come out on quick release. Mixed role as sort of campervan, actual van, general mid-long journey transport. 3. 2014 Nissan Leaf Still a fairly new purchase. About as bad an electric car as you can get, yet pretty great. Does about 90 miles on a full charge, but really bought to stop the diesel van having to do short journeys, and allow me to give the van some tlc. The leaf is much better than expected and so far I'm very happy with it.

On the drive Classics are the '78 Spitfire 1500 and the '73 Dolomite Automatic. In the garage. Room in the yard for 2 or 3 more cars, but reserved for visitors. PaulAA
Inserted into various slots in the communal basement garage: 1970 Jag XJ6 4.2 auto, factory gate stock 1975 TR6 CF, started life as US Stromberg spec, but has enjoyed various beneficial and arbitrary alterations 1990 MB W124 TE230, also factory gate stock (except for the gear lever, courtesy of Roger H hereabouts) CFO's daily: 2019 Volvo V60 D4 wagon/estate Sorely missed: 2008 Audi A5 3.0tdi coupe manual Less sorely missed: 2016 Audi A6 3.0tdi Avant Competition, startlingly fast, but equipped with an unhealthy power-to-safety ratio. PeteStupps
Interesting stuff, so it's a minimum of three cars per household so far. Mine from bestest to deadest: 1. Triumph Spitfire mk3 1969 (early), owned 9 years now. Pride and joy etc etc 2. Triumph 1300fwd 1967, owned 8 years. Bloody good car but historic reputation for catastrophic failures, which family and friends remember and mock me for. 3. Triumph Spitfire 2-litre bitsa, registered 1971 based on mk1 car from scrap heap. Owned long enough to have done more work to it, I think 3 years. All reside in underground parking, until the landlord / leaseholders return and chuck me out again. mpbarrett
1968 Herald 13/60 convertible, now 1500 with EFI owned for over 20 years. Other triumphs have come and gone (dolly 1500, Stag, GT6, TR6) but the Herald has remained.... 2021 VW Golf GTE, PHEV mk8. Our second Golf GTE, taken some time to like it but now very impressed. Fast, fun, but far too much tech, software mostly still in beta release stage but I have grown to like it. Most of our journeys are electric just wish the range was more than 30 miles (25 in the winter). Maybe time to change to the mk8.5 with twice the range. This is electric motoring without any range problems. The combination of a small turbo engine and electric motor can be great fun! 2021 Elddis Campervan, Fiat, diesel with add blue, 8 speed auto, 6M long. Its a very expensive white van with a bed.... And home made electric bike 2000 Raleigh, was with a Swytch kit now with home made kit. Really fun to ride, just slightly derestricted but still only 250watts. mike
joeyg
GT6 MK1 ,2.5L OD. 15" wheels I have owned this car for thirty years so has been a test bed for reinventing the wheel. Volvo Amazon wagon 2.0L OD A mostly standard work truck of a car. i added modern bucket seats and 16' wheels and tires and a roof rack for items to long to carry inside the car. MGB v8 conversion, 3.9L Rover ,5 speed Ford T5 transmission. I overheated the engine and damaged it the first week the car was on the road and then it sat for 10 years. 2 years ago i started over with a different block and replace what did not survive 10 years of neglect . I am 10 years older and the car doesn't have the same appeal it did when i was 20 years younger. Also i own an Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT but I have stopped licensing this car because the continuing cost of repairs and the difficulty finding replacement parts. I do all the work on my cars except the engine machine work and It is very difficult to find any one willing or capable to do repairs to the Alfa so it sits. Those are the three cars i drive and everyday I am driving one of them.
SpitfireBGT
I must hate myself because my newest vehicle is 14 years old but......... Oldest to youngest 1967 MGBGT Rusty but will be brought back to life at some point 1977 Spitfire Owned 40 years this month. I've been tinkering with it all 40 years. The latest is PI controlled by Microsquirt that is testing my abilities. It runs really well other than going lean during acceleration. Do I add MAP Dot to the Accel Enrich? its 100% TPS Dot now 2006 Toyota Corolla Just picked up for $500. I bought it from a little old lady. It's full of grey hair 2006 Honda Odyssey My daily driver that I couldn't live without 2010 Kawasaki Ninja 250R Bought 2 months for $800. It was severely crashed and ran like poo. $1000 later it runs great and looks pretty good too. Does anybody else here ride? I'm nearly 60 and it seems like a bad idea when some teenager eating a Big Mac with one hand and texting with the other hand pulls out in front of me. But other days when I'm blasting down a quiet road by myself, It's the most fun I've had in a while

JohnD
Many boards allow a list of "cars owned", either under the posters ID and seen every post or in the personal details. Do we want that? My list is pathetic. SofS Vitesse, Peugeot 208, TRansit and replica GT40 (under construction). John
TimBancroft
Simple list: GT6 mk2: Bought Dec 83, sort of looks like a Mk1.5...few mods 2.5Pi mk1: Bought April 04, love it, lots of mods but still on HS6s, actually thinking about fitting the Lucas Pi gear. TR6 CP: Bought 7 years ago, running rich on bike carbs. Too much induction noise! 2000 MK2: Half shared with James Cooper, structually sound one side! 2.5Pi with Stag box and LSD...could be a nice car! BMW330E Touring: Company car, so not actually mine....heavy thing, no fun to drive although very fast...1900kg...why! Partner's car: Mini Cooper S Conv...she loves it.

JumpingFrog
I'll give it a go: Current: 1955 Standard Eight "De-Luxe" - Running but with a long list of to dos, progress stalled but hopefully not for long. 1971 Triumph Herald 13/60 Saloon - Owned since 2013, first car. Currently needs TLC, doesn't want to start, some kind of carburettor/fuelling issue. 2009 BMW 320i Touring E91 - Suspiciously well-behaved at the moment, after receiving most of a bottom-end rebuild. Previous: 1967 Triumph Herald 1200 Estate - Went to Mongolia and back, no idea where it is now. 2000 Yamaha XJ600S Diversion - Banned from motorbikes now, so its gone. 2004 Clio dCi 80hp - Really cheap to run, up to 90mpg, sort of miss it despite being boring. Currently waiting on a house purchase to go through, so I can maybe actually have both my classics together, which would be nice.
