Fast Driver! (6/10)

  1. Leon I use one of those gauges, I cut a length of 20mm box section to match my wheel diameter then hold it in place with a couple of elasticated straps
  2. Have you got it switched to adaptive mode ?
  3. A group of us from Coventry are thinking about coming down for the classic, any advice on where we should stay. Potentially 6 to 10 people (3 - 5 cars) That crazy Dandridge character reckons we should just turn up and sort the rest later.......... Any info gladly appreciated
  4. James It's basically a 2 part spring loaded canister that sits on the bottom of the tank, it contains the filter, pressure regulator and venturi similar to that shown in your picture. My own car has a fuel return using the same pump but with a couple of modifications. We decided to build Iain's with no return for comparison, I also think its a neater job (no external regulator or fuel return required). Worked fine during mapping on the rolling road. Only went with an in-tank pump due to lack of space.
  5. Just for info The in tank pump fitted to Spitfire6's contains the swirl pot and fuel pressure regulator, it only needs one fuel line to the engine. Pump originally fitted to the KV6 engined Freelander.
  6. Had to machine 35 thou of my block to remove the recess, variation between pistons hieghts was around 8 to 10 thou from memory, once the pistons were machined the all protruded 8 thou.
  7. 5 speed
  8. Dave, fairly sure MGF's have / had a 14" steel montego / maestro spare wheel so should fit with your wheels.
  9. From my limited searching, alot of the import vehicles are fitted with 4.11's, I think 2002+ UK cars tend to be fitted with 3.54's. Not all fitted with LSD, if fitting a viscous diff you will also need the matching cv joints as one of them has a step with a second spline. KDT now has a casting for the rear of the diff that will allow it to fit the original rear chassis mounting points, still a bit more work to do but its close.
  10. Looking forward to that one,
  11. I do have a strip / rebuild article electronically, current file size is way to large, i'll try and get it reduced and post it in here. If you are thinking of going down the Rover CV route, the spline pattern on the rover shaft matches the spline pattern of the Subaru plug in CV joint that goes into the diff. (hope that makes sense)
  12. Hope this helps,
  13. Fairly sure Transits are alot larger, As Tim mentioned, the ones I use are available from Caterham and have a M16x1mm thread. Caterham joint is based on a Lada joint but with more thread machined.
  14. Nick I used Dave Mac propshafts in Coventry, they will make one to measure and have all the new parts on the shelf, cost is around £120. They will need the measurement from the face of the diff flange to the back of the gearbox. The may be able to supply the joints and yokes and you get the prop made over there. 1 Northey Road Foleshill Coventry CV6 5NF Telephone: (024) 7668 3239 Fax: (024) 7658 1852 johnmac@davemacprops.co.uk
