  1. Long may that continue, for you and the rest of us who choose to crawl under old and not so old iron.
  2. Floating......need a few passengers in the back that should help. No wet carpets is a result and shows how good your door seals still are
  3. Even at 2ft that’s pretty adventurous.......18 inches, dead flat and no running/moving water slow and steady
  4. When you put it like that should be done in no time
  5. Yeah my ex was doing her nut!
  6. Bugger meant to say servicing......not serving blxxdy spell check
  7. Mouse decided to go to sleep in the boiler casing.......slightly cooked smell lasted 3or 4 days after that no problem. Found the mummified body about 9 months later when serving said boiler. If rats are in a space where they have no access to water a small bowl of water in a cage trap is all that’s needed. Need to hep Mr and Mrs Tiggywinkle when ever we can.
  8. Hi John polycarbonate sheet needs a higher temperature of 180/210C to achieve the flexibility to mould. Time at that temperature about 5 minutes, might be a challenge in a gas oven not to suffer any crazing damage. Best of luck.
  9. At least in Iceland they’ve got a good excuse for such large holes.......if that happened here road would be closed for months if not a year or two
  10. Beet me to it..........gives him a better chance of hitting something more likely his hand
  11. Dam I thought I might have be able to order some and get away without paying the import duties
  12. Apologies to Mr Witor, fat fingers and should have gone to spec savers
  13. So I decided I should put a mk2 head on a mk1 vitesse block.....because you can. That means new larger 7/16 studs, nuts and washers. I did my due diligence and trolled through the many website offerings to find out what the cost of a full set of 14 normal studs, washers and high grade nuts was delivered into my mitts (Uk address). So no surprises when messers Expensive Rimmers came in leading the pack @£187, didn’t even think of going to Moss. James in the Paddock came home a bit better @£156 and Chris Wittor best of the bunch @£121. However I had an offering from Summit Racing on the other side of the pond of $103 plus the usuals, but these were ARP. I know the cry goes up, expensive, duty, vat, postage etc big dent in wallet. Turns out after a bit more research total cost delivered all duty paid was $155. At current exchange rate even allowing for the robbing banks giving me the lowest price they could on the dollar it came in @£132. Was I wrong to be weak? Anyhow said parcel arrived yesterday only to be handed to senior management I was deep in the bottom of the airing cupboard fixing pipes. Do I accept what may yet come from management above or can I plead mitigation that I was actually saving money Said delivery the genuine article
  14. That’s good news the pass that is, the rest sounds a bit like painting the forth bridge
  15. That is a labour of love and will look beautiful. Just jealous of that workshop there’s masses of room and a few big tools to make you drool.
  16. Honey I shrunk the........that’s just mental why do they need to be so huge. When we were kids my parents had a herald estate, we’d go on camping hols, two adults 14 and 11 year olds Great Dane and camping gear. Think the two tents and assorted gear went on roof rack. It was cosey and fragrant especially the dog.
  17. Very posh electric starters.....tried converting a Lucas 101 for the job but they weighed a ton and seemed a bit disproportionate to the little motor I was trying to get into life...... they also weighed a ton. Stopping that was easy. Just let it hit the deck..........in my case normally not intended just poor operator error. Great memories though........after too many finger strikes to remember I eventually went into boats but that had it’s own dangers with marinised engines, flywheels and starting cords
  18. Compression ignition wasn’t that bad to achieve, it was the finger damage when you got a kick back which was a bugger and could be quite often if the fuel was a little bit tired. They did have a spring start with a twin ended cam which sat behind the prop, this helped save on finger damage but could catch you out.
  19. Great memory Colin, I had both the Merlin and big brother Saber, think that was either 1.5 or 2.5 cubic and the smell of the fuel very memorable, how today’s kids would love to get some of that amyl.......
  20. The “red money box”.......you just can’t make withdrawals well only one if you at sometime decide to sell, but I can’t see that happening.
  21. That’s definitely lamb and feta kebabs. impressive polished floor as well.
  22. Bugger......coming back Sunday lunchtime, just got to keep my fingers crossed. Not been through Düsseldorf before so that’s going to be new!
  23. That’s pants, well the trip home. Just hope we don’t get the same treatment from BA we’re off to Düsseldorf weekend after next......have we done the right thing going with ba?
