Theoretical question - how to plumb twin fuel tanks?
Hamish replied to JohnD's topic in General Technical Discussions
https://www.gt40s.com/threads/mk2-balance-pipe-fuel-tanks.34919/ here you go John. but I’ve had a love of the gt40 since my dad got shafted by a “mate” for an original le man car. It was in the 1970’s and prices were relative. Dad asked said mate to have a look for him as he was going to buy it. Said mate bought the car for himself !!!! thankfully sideways isn’t like that and Craig helped me buy the Alvis. -

Hamish replied to JohnD's topic in General Technical Discussions
I understood the gt40’s were initially 2 filler near independent tanks and later a single filler with the fuel tanks in the cills the broad section below the doors you sit on to slide in. there were 2 balance pipes on the single fill system one a quite large bore pipe that connected the 2 tank uprights for air escape/equalisation under the dash ( the fillers were in the top of the front wings) and a massive drain pipe to connect the 2 cill tanks that ran under the front edge of the seats. Through the cabin !! Think I would go with 2 separate tanks and engine feeds but being drawn down at the same time. No switching of tanks and the fuel gauge in one should be the same fore each side. and no big fuel pipes in the cabin. -

The vee dub is ideal. Easy to drive /get used to and fits in most car parks and spaces. economical as a daily even. enjoy -

That’s great. come and say a sideways hello I’m in a black TR3a the track days are great fun so just enjoy. There is good courtesy on track which will be clear at a drivers brief. And we are all like minded and take care. it’s not a race, so go at a pace you are happy with. You don’t have to break any records in the first sessions but you will get quicker throughout the day. -

We did this a few years ago. Tried the vw but I couldn’t cope with the space 2 adults and 2 dogs etc so went for a big van. At about the same cost. it’s great fun did France with the dogs last year and a few race weekends. you just need to book your weeks/weekend away so you get out and about. enjoy. You won’t loose money on a good vw -
Is sideways ready for an influx ?
Hamish replied to Hamish's topic in General Discussions on anything
It appears that the proactive moves of the TRR forum supporters/activists has resulted in a TRR vote to maintain the TRR forum being open to all and the moderators taking up a greater role. the question of the near 50% increase in membership fees was withdrawn to have a stand alone vote at a later date once the club has shared - properly the reasoning and implications- that was presented to those able to attend the meeting. very much a happy result. -
£3800 is cheap but a bit much for a “what if” project
