  1. Hi NIck Yes these have brass bushes. These are off an MG though not a triumph. One day when my bank account recovers I'll most likely get some roller rockers.
  2. Its not all bad because I've got an extra set lying around. I gave it a go this evening and without doing anything too radical I manged to take off just over 10 grams per arm before polishing/de-burring which I'll do tomorrow. One thing I noticed though was that the bushes in them will definitely need replacing, one of them has worn by a good half mill!
  3. Basically my engines being rebuilt and I've got some time on my hands. I'm looking for ways to reduce the valve train inertia as the engine will be revving pretty high with the new cam. I realise the gains of something like this are almost non existanst but in my eyes if it's a gain it's worth doing. Has anyone here experienced lightening the rocker arms, can it even be done?!
  4. This additive sounds pretty good, especially when it comes to running in an engine where you don't want to be filling it with black stuff the price of gold only to be draining it 100 miles later.
  5. Cars having a respray atm in a lovely Alfa maroon. Itching to get it back!

  7. Did some research and I've bought some 15w50 fully synthetic Mobil 1 Motorsport oil, A3 spec. The oil contains the right amout of ZDDP (over 1000ppm compared to the new oils limit of just 400ppm) because with it being a Motorsport oil it does not have to comply with the usual regulations in modern oils which are made to protect the catalytic converters. The oil is only slightly thinner at low temperatures 15 not 20w, it is hower not thin enough to stop it running off all the valve train etc when you come to start it the next morning (not a good idea to use thin oil in old ohv engines because of this). Oh and because I work at halfords (halfrauds) I got it nice and cheap .
  8. If it was cold it could be the cooler air. Mine must be running a tad rich because as soon as the temperature drops it definately revs much more willingly.
  9. Oil change is due soon and I was wondering about putting something a little more modern in but dont want to wreck the engine. Anyone got any alternatives to old school 20w50 mineral oil? I hear some people use a 15w40 semi synthetic diesel oil (diesel oil contains more zink to protect piston rings). Anyone got any experiences?
  10. Haha, I realise that....No your right if i see a spit at the side of the road I'm just as likely to stop as if it were a B . Im actually in the market for a GT6 rotoflex model atm so having those two alongside each other in the garage should cause some nice controversy.
  11. Im selling some twin SU HIF4 carbs on ebay along with manifold, K&N Filters, heat shield and linkages etc if anyone's interested....8 days left! going cheap. got a good condition Lucas 45d4 distributor up for auction too! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Twin-SU-HIF4-Carburettors-linkages-/220926476983?_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D5%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D5453089765723738861#ht_500wt_1287
  12. I cant tell you how useful this was in setting my MG up......the float level was the final piece in the jigsaw for setting them up right. Cheers Jack
