The su replacement is a good idea but you will get more go from four/six throttle bodys. When i go for my efi this year ill be useing atpower throttle bodys which are similar to jenvey etc but have a better design which allow a smaller throttle size to flow like a larger size. These bolt on to the back of DCOE manifold. I think they look very cool too. http://www.atpower.co.uk/ Chris.

Hi cookies, For me its just a case of getting parts that will work well together and are good bang per £££'s. Im going EFI in about 4-6 months and i know what i want with this project and its set. However I like to get opinions but 9 times of of ten ill still do it my way. My engines bottom end is built so all that is needed now is the head, cam and new Manifold from GT. He's told me what to expect and im looking forward to it. Will also be posting everything that happens anyway so will make it interesting for everyone. Chris. -

The Dreaded Beer!!!! It turns into sugars and is very starchy, thus turning into fat. |It usually goes on the stomach hence "the beer belly" theory. Also the fat cells on the stomach area are three time thicker than anywhere else on the body hence why they are so hard to break down. Good Luck on the Diet, my mrs uses Fat burners(illegal in sport) as well as gym time(she like a bottle of wine per sitting). Chris. -

Im very flexible!!!! Ha Ha. -
Id say 2.5 would be ample. Chris.

Why don't you run the standard mk3 spit advance and see how that goes. I think at 4,000rpm its at 28 advance. Chris.

Hi GHR630, to wrap your exhaust manifold or not id say no as it wont make that much difference(but can cause a fire). Ceramic coating will make a difference but make sure you coat the exhaust to past the cabin. Im also confused how you manage to do this to your leg? I think if your getting too hot in the cabin then i would fit a heat shield to the baulk head and the gearbox tunnel. You can also fit thermal/sound insulation on the inside of the cabin. Do you still have a fan blower fitted or has it been removed? If its still fitted then block up the passenger side and route the piping to you leg. Also what is your gearbox tunnel made out of??? Fibreglass would be cooler??? Chris.

Hi GHR630, Im a Mechanic so building a standard engine which runs nice is not a problem. However ive not time as im in training for the Olympic games so have very little time free. That and ive not worked on getting power out of these engines so really i don't have much choice. However GT is only supplying the cam, head and exhaust manifold. The engine was stripped, cleaned, re bored, lightened, balanced, crank ground and has a tr5 profile cam with duplex cam chain kit. This was done by chic doig my local specialist while i was recovering from surgery. End of the day i want to get in and go. Im no racer i just like to drive. Ill also be converting it to EFI with special Throttle body's as i know how much better EFI works. I'll also be fitting these parts and the EFI so it will still be mine but with GT's parts i know ill be happy with it. As for time am in no rush. Either way no matter what anyone thinks all will come clean on the dyno, rock on next month. Chris. -

Chic Doig recommends the mintex shoes for the spit. However id adjust the rears and pressure bleed the system. Chris. -

Hi James that isn't peak hp. Its what's gained right across the range i.e. the drivable area. The torque is the big surprise with this as it increases much longer to higher rev's so it will pull like a train. Top end hp is good but no its not a race car. Looking forward to the results. Chris. -

Hi Hurricane1500, the Figures are 10bhp and 15lb/ft . However this is with GT's head and cam too. So will be interesting to see the difference on a standard head!!! Chris. -
I think some one told me that the MG's with triumph 1500 engine came with valve seals? But i could be wrong. Who did your head for you Mattius??? Chris.

Id just make sure the rears are adjusted and bleed the hole system again. Too much brake pedal movement is usually the rears need adjusting. As for the squirming, it could be down to road surface, tyre pressure(check it) or something looser than it should be on the suspension???? Chris. -

Don't they increase the wear on the guide? Burning a little isn't a bad thing. Chris.

Mattius, i didn't say it was. Go back and read what i've written........ If you pay the £1300+ you get the best. This from GT isn't, its just the best bang per £££. The reason it doesn't fit is a simple error in welding it. I could get it fixed but its not about that its about making sure every one else doesn't have the same problems i do. Its a £600 exhaust and it will be replaced with another one. If that doesn't fit then the instructions a gave to go back with the first one will allow for the rest to be made correctly. Meaning that eventually ill get one that will fit and so will every one else. Rather than just getting it fixed and not telling the seller were it went wrong. As for testing, GT has dyno'ed this exhaust and his customers have dyno'd it. He says it works, i believe him and soon we will all see. Chris. -

"How much "massaging" would make GT's offering fit perfectly? Afterall, every car is a bit different." Needs massaging at the head, the Y piece for 2 and 3 and then would need matching to the end link pipe. A Fair bit, but that's why agreed to pay £600. Granted it should fit but it doesn't, error are made and im not bothered as GT says he will sort me out. So its cool, im in no rush as ive not even paid for it yet. "Chris, Are you concious of the irony of this thread, after the recent 'debate' on GT's qualities? Top bloke GT has supplied you with a top performance manifold. That doesn't fit. John" Hi John, I started the debate after already agreeing to buy the parts. I have spoken to GT and i think we will get on fine as im a very good judge of character. End of the day his parts give more oomph than others on offer, this was established on the thread i started which wasnt NOT SUPPOSE TO BE A DEBATE!!!!!!!!! It was suppose to be a tell you experience thread with no come backs. Anyway, I wouldn't class this as a top performance manifold, its the best for the price. If it had the special joints and the best collectors that take hours to make then the exhaust would cost a small fortune. However this manifold is what id call a very good compromise between performance and cost. GT has given me and estimated Bhp/torque figure for his cam, head and exhaust manifold configuration. The price was agreed and he will deliver. That's what i want and that's what i will get. "would a custom manifold really cost £1300?? i got a quote much much lower than that." You may have mattius but if you ask one of the best exhaust manifold makers in the country to make you a custom exhaust and to test it etc then the cost will be over £1300. As it will be tested and improved upon until they are happy with the design, performance and fit. That's what you money goes into. If you know a guy who says he will weld an exhaust how you want it then go get it but you will have to test it and try and improve it if you feel it needs it. Do you have the experience to do this and the time??? I don't so ive gone for the next best thing. As for the exhaust you live 15mins from me and ive already offered a cuppa to you? Check your pm. "Ever notice how we all go weak in the knees over extractors? It's like the ultimate man jewelry." Yes Steve, im definitely into the man Jewellery. Maybe some day ill have a manifold as beautiful as the 6 cylinder ones? It would def cost more than £600 though. Dont know why but i still fancy a 4-1, will have to see what it goes like with the 4-2-1. Steve, how much would it cost to get one of those special connectors made for a 4-1, four pipe into one??? Just curious. Cheers Chris.
