  6. Engine power ranges from 30bhp to 60bhp and engine size from 600-760cc. Your right they are on the rise in price but that doesn't bother me. I really like the shape of the car and as long as I can fit in one, I think it would be very fun to drive. All I need now is to find a rusted out donor with a V5. Might have a buyer for the T6 but he wants me to fit a triumph unit to it so we shall see but I really fancy one of these. Chris. Sparrow Automotive do a BMW boxer motorcycle engine swap onto the 2CV gearbox. 90bhp, look like a good kit. http://www.sparrowautomotive.co.uk/ Another option is a 760cc turbo kit giving 90bhp. I think 60bhp would be enough in one of these though!!!

These can be tax exempt and low insurance cost. This one above in the Preloved add is stunning. Wonder if I could fit in one...........They do soft and hard tops, so can be for everyday use in summer and winter though winter is really the kittens job. Whats your thoughts. Chris.
  8. Both Rebel racing and Reliant spares I know of, but neither do fuel injection as its not allowed in the race series. Rebel racing have a very good rep for good racing engines and rebuilds but I don't want a race engine or as rebuild. Just the engine I have, more reliable with correct fueling and spark to maximize its potential. Chris.
  9. I'm not after more power Nick so will probably go for the 28mm as I said earlier as it will flow like a 30mm throttle at WOT. Next size up on ATPowers range is a 36mm. I think its too big and didn't want to go ITB's with this car as its just not that kind of car. The fabricator says big improvements will be had as the system will be designed for the engine and the cam it has. Will let you know more when it happens. Once the rear axle is rebuilt and the new doors fitted I'll get the car on the dyno so a before and after can be had. Chris.
  10. 39mm each john, way too big and not even inline. GSXR600 ones are 38mm but still too big by a large amount. Chris.
  11. Ok Guy's my kitten is going into a fabricator to have a custom exhaust manifold made and efi plenum made in July. Question is what size throttle to go for. Engine only makes about 35bhp at the mo. The new inlet and exhaust will probably take that out to 40bhp. So it currently uses a hs2 on a crappy manifold so 1 1/4" but when you take into account the venturi its probably about 26mm. I'm planning on using a ATpower throttle body which is used in the Formula student class. Its a 28mm one (19mm restrictor removed) which will flow like a 30mm throttle on top but 28mm at part throttle. I'm not after making more power just to get more mpg but i'm sure more power and torque will result. Getting rid of the dizzy and carb is the goal and maximizing the engines efficiency. Question is will this be too big? or should I go bigger??? Fabricator wont know runner lengths or size till he has all the engine dimensions and cam timing etc to put the figures into the computer program. Any thoughts??? Chris.

  13. Hi Ian, its the short input shaft. The correct one for four cylinder conversions. This box cost over a grand as it has the uprated parts and different first gear in it. On the RBRR front we completed the RBRR in 2014, we also did the monte carlo Glasgow to Reims as well as many other drives. In total since being built the T6 has covered about 33,000miles. Ive had my fun out of it and its a very well sorted car.

  15. Well, today is a sad day and also a happy day. Last week I made the final decision to move the spitfire on as I have neither the time or the will to carry on but there is more to the story. So, The rebuilt top end slipped its timing again and ran rough. I removed the engine and handed it back to Jon at Shawspeed for him to strip and rebuild it under warranty. That was a couple months back, today was the day I went to collect the engine however after asking Jon if the warranty would transfer to a new owner if I sold it on ebay (as I told him I was selling the spitfire) and he straight away refunded my hole cost. He said he built loads of this spec motor and never had these issues. He apologized and we shuck hands. Top bloke, really tried his best to make this work. He was definitely out of pocket on this and stuck to his word even after rebuilding the motor. So whats the plan with Spiddy. Well, now with the engine gone, he has a space that needs filling. This is not going to be my job though, the EFI system will be removed as will the gearbox,flywheel/clutch and propshaft and the car will be put to the point where the new owner only needs to fit either a triumph engine and box back into it or start their own journey with another engine swap. I think this is the best way to move the car on without breaking it. This also means I can use the EFI bits on another project. doing it this way will give me a bit of cash back meaning I can let the car go for a little less cash yet with a fighting chance. It could be on the road within a weekend with the correct donor. The clocks are still there, its still got the LSD Quaife diff, camber compensator etc its still got all the bits that made this car truly epic to drive and with the fibreglass body which now fits it just needs cleaning up and painting. Easy project for someone who wants one. Its sad as this car will always bring back many many great memories and I never got round to fitting a proper exhaust manifold to release the extra ponies from the Zetec SE 1.6 however its a relief knowing it will be gone. As can be seen in this thread its been a very bumpy ride and it is a very special car from a box of bits. At least the next owner will have a easier job to put it back on the road. Thanks all for reading, will be listing the car on ebay and car and classic this week. If anyone is interested in a Type 9 gearbox with shortened remote, uprated hubs, better first gear ratio with only 3,000 miles on it pm me. Also if anyones after the throttle bodies, light weight Zetec se Flywheel which has the complete punto clutch set on it pm me. Finally if anyone wants a set of conversion engine mounts pm me I've got about 10 sets to give away with the words doc. This conversion was really amazing, everyone who drove it loved it.   16. Mattius, might be worth turning the adjusters to face inwards as with the wheels on it might be hard to adjust. They are good shocks but one my adjusters did get very stiff with miles in all weathers so might be worth removing the grub screw that secures the adjuster and adding a little grease. Chris.

  21. Well Roger just completed his first big commute from camp in Devon to home in Scotland. 500 miles with 50mpg achieved and I've still not sorted the fueling yet. Only issue was the rear right hand tyre kept loosing pressure. I've now swapped it for the spare but will get it fixed this week. Then on Friday its time to Drive back again!!!! Just an oil top up for engine, diff and gearbox to do and a quick valve clearance check. Very happy with the car. More to come.
  22. Well the New engine idea was scrapped last week as non of Jon's current spare engines have a good enough crank. So instead, he brought all replacement parts for my current engine with him this morning. This turned out to be a Quick change over and was completed this morning but unfortunately my throttle bodies rubber o-ring seals have given up and thus we couldn't start the engine and make sure all is well. I feel quite confident it will be fine but we will know later this week. So tomorrow I'll need to order new ones from ATpower and a couple hose clamps for ones that need replacing but later next week Spiddy should be back on the road.
  23. Nick, what about an non overdrive gearbox. I know it will be reving more but there are loads of them about for very little money. At least if he upgrades to a type 9 at some point or just to an overdrive he will appreciate it much more??? Chris.
