  1. Clarkson's Farm on Amazon is good for a laugh. I know that most of it is scripted but Jezzzer is a great presenter.
  2. Yikes!!! How many F1 drivers would have the nerve to go that fast?
  3. WOW. I love these videos. Keep them coming.
  4. Great save! You must be young to have such quick reaction time?
  5. Gentlemen I've scored a victory in a battle against Speeduino. The war isn't over but now I've got to figure out what to do with the ground I have captured. To summarize I'm running twin Weber DCOE 40's, Kent fast road cam, 10 to 1 compression, and a head ported head as done by Kastner in his comp prep manual. I'm replacing the Megajolt ignition with a Speeduino and BMW bike throttle bodies. Questions I've got it running about as well as it did on the Megajolt but it is a little flat above 3500 RPM. I'm running the same timing map as the Megajolt and I'm tempted to add timing but I'm worried about knock. I think the Speeduino MAP sensor is reading the vacuum a little differently than the Megajolt sensor. I can't hear it knocking because of my Yobbo exhaust. has anyone fitted a knock sensor? If so where and which one? The post your map thread has a lot of dead links so can anyone post some base maps to get an idea where I might be wrong. My plan is to get my ignition as perfect as possible before adding the fuel side of it. Thanks

  7. Just this evening I got my Spitfire running on spark only using a Speeduino ECU. when i say running I mean that it is turning over on it's own. There is no way that I could drive it yet. I plan to add BMW bike throttle bodies as soon as I get the spark sorted out. My wounds are still open so I feel qualified to comment. I would avoid Speeduino unless you have an Electrical Engineering degree. WHEN things go wrong you are on your own due to the lack of documentation and support. It does a lot for what it cost, most of which you'll never need. It is very sensitive about the inputs. The Micro/Megasquirt manual explains how the sensor work, explains the pros and cons of each and how to wire them in plain English all in one place. I too am looking for better economy and drivability. With twin DCOE's I've never managed more that 20mpg. Wasted fuel is wasted power and money.
  8. Thanks all I'm probably going to leave it alone and add an 8Ga "helper" wire. The only thing that scares me is if I'm having problems. Low Amps could be hard to pinpoint as the cause. On another note. How important is it to have some sort of idle air control? Allowing air past one throttle is complicated enough. 4 throttles seems really difficult. My dual DCOE's have chokes that I've never hooked up because it isn't that much of a pain to just tease it with the gas pedal until it is up to temp. will the PI be about the same?
  9. Thanks All. That's the advice I was looking for. An ounce of experience is worth a pound of speculation. Regarding the Speeduino. You are very much on your own. It came with no documentation at all. I asked a simple question and was told to google it. The Speeduino forum is populated with a bunch of smart asses that enjoy talking down to beginners like me. I'm committed to it now and I'm not sure that I would do it again. but it's early. I'm not being a wise ass. I left out the question mark at the end of my sentence. Is 8 Ga big enough for 70A at 12V DC?
  10. The gauge of the big brown wire from the alternator to the solenoid is 12 at best. So if I fit a more powerful alternator I should put a larger wire to carry the extra amps. I just went through my pile of scraps and found a length of 8 gauge that should work. Any idea how much power the wiper, blower motors, and running lights draw? or even the ECU, injectors, and coils? I'm trying to add it all up as if everything was on then add a safety factor of 10% to determine the minimum amperage alternator. Any reason not to go big on the alternator amps or would it just waste power spinning it?
  11. Right. I've been reading, thinking, reading some more, and over thinking even more. I'm a few hours away from starting the engine on spark only using a Speeduino ECU. A few years ago I put a Nippon Denso alternator from a Kubota tractor in because it was the only one that I could find that had a V pulley. As it turns out it only puts out 40 Amps. It has been suggested that 40 Amps isn't enough to supply the injection, Spark, Fuel pumps, and cooling fans. I'm already adding an additional fuse box with 5 relays to supply everything. So. Those of you who have blazed this trail before me. Have you needed to upgrade the alternator, including the charge wire back to the solenoid?
  12. Just before the Harry and Meg interview we have a news show called 60 minutes. The first 20 minutes was focused on a young lady who is pregnant, Lost her job and home because of Covid. The last 20 minutes was a story about the US spending BILLIONS going back to the moon. It shocks me how society overlooks the people that are struggling and props up the Royals and Boeing. I'm going to go back to doing my taxes so that all of this madness will be paid for.
  13. So they are state sponsored entertainment. Kind of like the Kardashians over here. I've asked my daughters why they are so popular and I was told that they just "are" and I would never understand so there is not point explaining it. Both the royals and the Kardashians want privacy but they insist on putting themselves on TV. They'll not get sympathy from me.
  14. Spoon bit for drilling deep holes in wood.
  15. Ok help me out. The United States can't stop talking about Harry and Megan and their interview with Oprah. But why??? Correct me if I'm wrong. The little that I know of the royal family is that they are 100% symbolic, they don't rule the country in any way, and they get an allowance from the taxpayers. So why does everyone follow their every move as if they are important? Americans feel sorry for them even though Harry Meg and their kids will never have to struggle for anything. A mansion in Hollywood is a step down for them for god's sake. Anybody have an explanation that makes sense?
