    • I don't use anything connected to FB or Google. Signal is excellent for messenging.
    • Oh, dear, this is weird. I got an email notice from Fb, one of those "So-and-so  commented on Someone's post that you haven't seen" messages.   I clicked on it,  and I was back on Fb!  With a note "Welcome back"!      I looked at all the "Notifications", and there are none from anyone who might have had a scammer message (nor have I by email) and they go back two days, which including today is as long as I've been shut out.   And as I said, Facebook said that I had been blocked for "going too fast", as if my account was sending lots of scamming messages, like before> But I'm in!  So go to look at my security details, and they have my email address AND a hotmail.com which ain't mine, it was what the scammers used.  Also I find that "Other login information" was sent from an Apple Ios7 on the 13th. THAT was the scammers!       I go to change my password, and of course Fb wants to verify me, but it offers either an email to the hotmail address, or a text to 'my' mobile.     The number shown is mainly ** with the last and first two digits shown, and they tally.    But I don't get a verification  message - the scammers must have altered the middle digits.  OddsBodikins - did they set up a mobile number just  because it was a few digits different from mine??  Welcome back, paranoia! I try to delete that address, it seems to work.   I  try to change my password, but "Well to tell you the truth in all this excitement I kinda lost track myself"  and it seems I no  longer  know my own password!    And "Forgotten Password" just gets me back to "You have been going to fast and your account is blocked". I try to re-log into Fb, and I am asked for  my password, so got to Forgotten again - and I am offered "Open the Messenger app on a mobile device.  If you use Messenger without Facebook, you can reset your password using the Messenger app on a mobile device. Learn more." Oooh!  maybe I can do that.  Messenger on the mobile is independent of Fb.   Click on "Learn More"    "Manage account settings when using Messenger without Facebook in the European Economic Area (EEA) This content isn't relevant in your location." AAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!
    • If I may indulge in a bit of threar diversion... Other than a couple of car-related fora and LinkedIn for the day job, my only engagement with social media is Instagram, with one account for car stuff and one for the business. Being from the realm of FB, Instagram has become a pretty nasty environment, in which you are constantly 'bated' with stuff the algorithm has evidently realised you are not interested but can be persuaded to react to. And when you do react, or block accounts, the algorithm feeds you more of the same. As a result, my account is inundated with the nastiest of Christian National, evangelical and pro-Trump... manure. I even had a clip of Farage dribbling some nonsense about Jesus. And there seems to be no way of stemming the flow. So, it looks like another minor bit of enjoyment, posting pictures of the TR and the XJ, has come to the end of the line and I will be free of Zuckerturd's vile sphere.
    • Revolutions still use sleeve nuts. However if you give them a call they have lots of options available and very helpful. Sorted me out with replacements for the Scimitar recently.
    • Modern Revolutions use standard nuts, which are available as M12. I have 'acorn head' ones from MisteR Tee.
    • Most of the things on your "to do list" could apply to my mk2, with the addition of body work, respray, etc. Your car looks great, love the revolutions, always wanted a set for my car, fitted m12 studs so not sure if today's revo's use sleeved nuts, which would be a problem.
    • Thank you, Colin!  For a one-off that looks most useful. John
    • Been there, well worth a visit, lovely grounds as well. The drive way would make a superb sprint track.
    • So, jumping foward to the present. The engine fiasco happen July time last year. After assessing the damage and everything else that I wanted to do, I basically just turned the garage light off and closed the door, not to return until early this year. I can't emphasise the frustration but what's done is done, lessons learned and all that.  Anyway, with the engine completly stripped in the corner of the garage on the stand, I began writing out the list of things that needed doing on the whiteboard, things that I wanted to improve/upgrade, repairs and general tidy ups on the car. ...... the list filled the whiteboard! Majority of the jobs ended up being inside the car, -Heater refurb, it's useless -dash top recover and demister vent replacement/ repair as the present ones are all bent and look terrible -speedo replacement, the current one never worked -fit inertia seatbelts -New parcel shelves and retrim dash rails -fit a radio and speakers, period look but ideally with some nice features -seat retrim and re foam( not going to happen, too much money and all trimmers hate the mk2 recliner) -Door refurb, check for rust inside the door and treat, sort out 1/4 light to body gap and glass to body seal gap, I can nearly fit my finger between the top of the glas and the seal on the car -Cut a boot board to go over the tank - Sort out slop in clutch pedal, clevis pin hole all ovaled, quite an easy repair actually - With all the centre trim out of the way, adjust the handbrake cable and at the wheels - Improve the current sunvisor brackets as they're a bit sloppy. -find a new/ better front bumper or rechrome the current one, it just let's the look of the car down. -better wipers! This pretty much covers 2/3 of the car. The remaining is all front end and engine bay etc. In addition to all the paint issues to rectify. The front suspension is far too sloppy and needs stiffer strings with adjustable shocks, everything else is all good.  Not exactly a small job. On top of that add on a full engine rebuild with performance upgrades, quite a lot of work. The last few things to track down in preparation for the engine build is a second hand 6 3 1 manifold and decide on a camshaft I'm a bit peeved as I had quite a few pictures of some of those jobs but they've been lost in the matrix unfortunately. I now have a replacement crankshaft courtesy of Nick, saving me once again. It's at the machine shop as we speak and will be supplied with tri metal bearings. Anyway, long post dragging on, there's quite a few nice upgrades that I'll be showing off shortly if I can find the pictures! Jacob
