Enormous auction of Triumph parts.

Recommended Posts

Came across this via 'another place', where it is suggested that this represents the residue of a notorious Triumph restorer's bankruptcy.   If anyone suffered there, they may recognise their own parts!

Hi John,

this is not the residue by the sound of it.

It has been suggested that he moved all the decent stuff from one company to the next before liquidating the first.

It is also been suggested that he is nothing other than a crook.  That residue probably contains many peoples 'lost' parts.

Some fairly high value stuff in amongst (TR5 with steel engine, TR5/6 steel cranks) which is perhaps a bit unexpected were someone moving the best bits between businesses?

Not sure what the business involved is - obviously I've not been keeping up..... unless it's a certain outfit formerly of Corby with "racing" in the title........

Somebody will buy all of it. Well, probably not the same person, but all will be sold. There are enough enthusiasts/companies out there.

The TRR had some "interest" in teh company, with traders trying to help shafted customers.

I wonder if they will club together, prevent bids going high, and then buy it all cheaply enough so parts can be returned to rightful owners. Nice idea.

T6 moulds were the first thing I spotted.  When T6 folded the moulds were bought over by S&M although i don't believe they actually made anything from them.

As well as the moulds there is a complete GRP floor assembly and a couple of other moulded GRP bits, like overriders - as well as steel sill reinforcement sections in there too. Hopefully someone will pick that lot up and maybe get those bodies available again.

Particularly interested in how they made the multi-part mould for the bonnet as I have been pondering just that for making my own as there are various options.

Also see how they made the mould for the overriders now that Pete S had kindly lent me his to do just that. Thought about doing it that way but not sure that's how I will ultimately.

I have copied all the pics for future reference though

Some pretty interesting/tempting stuff in there.

I wondered if you'd spot them! Funny timing.

What did this firm get up to then? I don't think I'd heard of them, but see they were in my home county of Lincolnshire.

... actually a quick google has told me: https://www.tr-register.co.uk/article/2018/11/0166/SM-Triumph-Restoration-Ltd-enters-liquidation

The TR article is about the first firm to go insolvent.  That firm was based in Lincoln.  The successor firm based in Hornchurch has now gone insolvent.  The appointment and plan of action by the Adminstrator mention that this new business is being pursued by liquidator of the first firm.

The directors were members of a TRiumph car club and were allowed to leave the club quite amicably even though they ripped off many club members.

Outrageous

Roger

Unlike some, who did nothing more than question the practices of the management of that certain club!

Darren your treatment by the BOD was and still is a disgrace.

Problem is that not enough members had the guts to challenge and demand change.

Looks like your doing ok away from TRR, it’s a good thing that you are doing with the Spares Fund.

Phil

Thanks Phil. It does help to know that there are still a few that remain appalled about what happened, as I suspect many will have forgotten now. I'm still saddened and bewildered by it all, but that doesn't do me any good to think on it, so I just crack on doing what I can to help with those clubs I belong to the best I can. Our independent, multi marque club continues to do well and still has a majority of TR owners that prefer it to the other option. And it's a great crowd of people, all just enjoying the friendships and the cars. It's exactly what a club should be in my opinion. I'm also pleased to be helping with the TR SDF, as it's run out of a genuine desire to help TR owners keep their cars on the road.

I hope you and your family are all keeping well.

Best wishes,

Darren

Thanks for the reply yes all ok up here in Derbyshire.

Glad to hear that your other multi marque club is doing well, I promise when we are in better times I will pop down to one of your events, I’ll hopefully be able to bring my cousin who after years of wanting for a Ford Escort Mexico decided he couldn’t afford one so purchased a 1972 1100L ! It’s pretty good though only 27k on the clock!

Hopefully he will have finished tidying it and we can have a run over to you, might take a few hours to get there with the 1100L!!!

If not he can bring his RS Focus Mk1 - probably I’ll have all on to keep up with him !

Nice to hear from you see you later

Regards

Phil

Glad to hear that all is well with you Phil.

It would be great to see you and your cousin at one of our meets if you can make it next year. You'd both be most welcome. Perhaps you can make a few days of it and see some of the area. We have several Ford owners in the club now, so your cousin's Escort or the RS Focus would get lots of interest I'm sure.

Here's a link to our club site, where if you scroll down the news page you can see some of our "dangerous" members!    https://www.whitehorse-cve.com/

Best wishes,

Darren
