The narrow railway used to run through the left arch of the Coronation Bridge Roger and the Memsahib ps I hope this pop virus has gone by next year so we car finish the tour as it was as the title of the tours says Magic

JohnD
Roger, when you get home, look for a programme on BBC4, "Harry Birrel presents..." Mr.Birrel was a lifelong fan of making cine-films. He went into the Army on the outbreak of WW2, taking his film camera with him and seems to have been able to 'wangle' film stock all the way through his career, in India, the Ghurkas and Burma. He left some 400 tins of film, and a detailed diary, that his family have mde into this programme, which features some footage of the Dargheeling Highland Railway in the '40s! Doesn't look much different to what you have shown us! rogerguzzi
Hello All We watched that film last night the Memsahib had recorded it before we went to India Strange to think we may have been pulled by the same Locomotive! I will keep putting up random photos to keep your Peckers up! Roger
Nick Jones
Some great pics..... again. Love the random monkeys...... just sat in a busy street or sat on the head of a statue eating a flower pointedly ignoring the dog..... PS. Last time I saw a UK airport that empty it was 3 am at Gatwick and I'd just got in from Baku......
rogerguzzi
Hello Nick These 2 Delhi I think and others may have been Dubai? Plus the usual lump hammer adjustments Roger
Nick Jones
So are lump-hammer... err, adjustments made trackside following a failure to proceed? Looks a bit like it! Hardly surprising as the locomotives must be well into 3 figure ages and will have been used hard with minimal love for most of that time
rogerguzzi
Hello Nick The Locomotive used the first day stopped several times for the usual adjustment Plus on part of the second time we had to walk up the incline as the poor little Locomotive could not pull us all(I felt sorry for the Locomotive!) The second Locomotive used on the second day flew up similar inclines. It is a good job they were built in the Scotland all those years ago!
