Alex
I wonder if anyone can take a picture of a herald/ vitesse boot stay? Im interested in where it mounts to the lid, I seem to have misplaced the part. I believe it’s just a right angle.....perhaps someone would get busy with a tape measure for me if it’s that simple? thanks alex
Nick Jones
Here's a pic...... I know it's got a gas ram in it too but the bracket is unchanged
Alex
Thanks Nick.....have you added a bit to that? I did think about a gas strut myself......looks very neat!
Nick Jones
Nope, that's factory standard - other than welding it back together when it snapped in half. The bracket snapping and also damage to the two countersunk screw holes in the bootlid itself are common and due to unsympathetic handling and/or with the standard ratchet strut not behaving as expected. The one that originally lived here had a particularly bad attitude and got chopped up and it's parts used for something else once it had been replaced! Mind you, this gas strut is getting a bit feeble and will need replacing soon. It's been on the Vitesse 15 years and was probably already 15 years on when fitted.... Alex
I like the idea of the gas strut..... would you happen to remember what it’s from?
