oldtuckunder
Just in case anyone want's to come for the ride I'm planning an "Express" run in the Cosworth Estate down the M5 to the Dartmoor RBRR control at Badgers Halt on Sunday Morning the 7th October. Have a couple of Luxury Arm Chair Seats available! Control opens 11'ish so currently planning on leaving south Worcs M5/M50 junction area around 8 a.m ish, so if you wan't you can either come here and leave with me, or if you are already south of here can probably arrange a pick up somewhere down the M5. Plan is down, couple of hours socialising hopefully definately including "lunch" somewhere and then blast back. Just a warning there is a little bit of the "RR" element to this as as I have only recently finished the Cosworth, and am slowly putting mileage on it, but this would be its first 5-6 hour longer distance trip, so due to this and its a Cosworth there is always a chance I might break it before the 7th, or something could go wrong on the trip, but I do have full recovery :-) Alan
thebrookster
Look forward to seeing you there then Alan! zetecspit
Yep, look forward to seeing you. I will be in the scruffy red toledo. (About to retorque the headgasket, all looking very good at the moment)
Nick Jones
Think the control opens a little later than "11ish"? 12.21 springs to mind but I'm away from my information at this point. We'll be there an hour or so before anyway, but no signing through until the official open time. It's not a race....... All being well I shall also have Craig along, all the way from Melbourne....... and Chris the "apprentice" (should probably stop calling him that!). Whether we will have squeezed into a Triumph (the logistics are a bit convoluted and the Vitesse is the biggest available) might depend on how benevolent the weather is! oldtuckunder
Ah bit more sleep then, competing at Prescott the day before, and always seem to sleep well after an event as the Adrenalin wears off!
Sidescreen Vicky
Ben and I are Team 119 and will (hopefully!!) be there with Geoffrey, our 1957 TR3. There is a rather smart red TR3a taking part, but you won't confuse that one with us.....ours is 7 shades of red and has a certain 'patina' about it!! Seeing friendly faces at the checkpoints gave us both a massive boost last time, it really does give participants a lift. Oh, and if you really want a laugh, you can watch me trying to park Vicky x

GT6MK3
Looking forward to meeting you all. Right now I’m sitting in the sunshine beside a highway, mid way around a 2 day, 1000km classic scooter ride in the hills of Australia’s coatline, so the UK autumn weather may be a shock. Nick Jones
You there then..... may the wheels keep on turning! Very nice weather here today (though stuck in exhibition hall without parole) but there is no telling what it will be like in 10 days time! Sidescreen Ben
The Brookster and us should be there pretty early if things stay on track. Heading for Bude now ETA 1000h.
oldtuckunder
Great to meet people there today, and put faces to names, I'm in awe of your stamina! Couple of shots from Badgers Halt, including NIck & Chris signing route books etc. Sorry about Cosworth Estate spoiling Triumph line up, but it also completed its 300 mile test run flawlessly, what surprised me whilst cruising on the M5 at a speed that included a zero and and a nine, were the amount of tiny euro boxes, sprinter vans and VW Transports passing me as though I was dawdling, no wonder the M5 is closed due to accidents so many times. Nick Jones
I'm very pleased someone took some pics as I completely failed in that mission........ Nick
Hamish
Thank for the pics alan. And well done to all that took part ( esp Ben and Vicky in Geoffrey- yup I’m bias to the sidescreen team) I went down m5 quite quick on Tuesday to get to my mum and dad’s ( he is a bit poorly) and 2 of the few cars to pass me were a hearse and it’s limo. They Must have been sat at 115 ish. Thats the one I want to take me on my final journey when the time comes. I don’t want to hold anyone up !!!!!!!!!! Very nice pics - these and the pictures from John O'Groats and Mallory Park have only increased the greenness of my envy!

PaulAA
You disappoint me, Nick - I was expecting an "over my dead body, officer" euphemism, haha!
Sidescreen Ben
Iain Paul turned up to cheer us on in his Apple Green Works TR3A which was a great boost to morale! He took this shot - amazingly we were both smiling - or that could be a grimace on my face!! Good to meet you Alan (Oldtuckunder) and Nick - although you were busy doing your autographing so probably didn't notice! Anyway we completed the run sucessfully despite tedious "sunny Sunday" traffic from Badgers Holt onwards.

Whether you got noticed or not depended on whether we were having a busy patch or not. There were quite alot of those....... Or there was Phil's approach which was was to make damn sure I noticed . I was a bit taken aback at the number of people who seemed confident they knew me without me having any idea who they were. Perhaps my tablets need increasing.... My own run back from BH was via Plymouth and done quite late at night. Didn't see any unexpected cameras, radars or plain clothes cars....... and I hope there weren't any I didn't see..... Making up for time lost trying to find a way onto the closed A38 with further hindrance from diversion signs pointing nowhere! That green TR3A is lovely. There was also a very nice Herald 1200 saloon and 2000 saloon brought along by spectators. Nick

You think that after pretty much driving the length of Britain 3 times within three days I wasn't go to say hello in person for the first time in what? 10 years or so? Was good meeting both yourself and your son Chris. Also pretty pleased I can put faces to Craig and Alan now as well, all we need to do now is get Craig back over to complete an RBRR, though by the looks of things he might need to come over a week before to acclimatise first. Cheers, Phil
Nick Jones
Good to meet you too Phil, and Nuala. Hopefully we can meet again in well under 10 years! I think Craig may have added the RBRR to his bucket list....... Nick
GT6MK3
Craig has definitely added the RBRR to his bucket list (Actually it was on it already, but it's moved up.) . Thanks to those who said G'Day, I was still a little wall eyed from the 45 hour trip to Devon, but was really glad to meet a few fellow Triumph enthusiasts, and put faces to some names. Nick is a gent, and his family looked after me brilliantly after I lobbed on them, and what a weapon hin Vitesse is. If he finished his GT6 to the same standard it will be an awesome beast. Am now in a Gite in/near Arras, after a 8 hour drive from south west France. Spending a day or three here educating myself about the wartime history around here, then off to Paris before heading back home. Again, thanks to all, C.
