PaulAA
Chaps Are any of you planning to go to Spa 6 Hours in mid-September? I'm asking principally because the tickets are not yet available on the Spa website and there is no response to email enquiries... Is it occurring? Last year, I had the tickets bought and paid for by the end of March. Cheers Paul
triumphlux
Hi, I'll probably be there again this year. You can buy tickets on site the day of the race and they have a special parking for classic cars on the other side of the new paddocks. JC
PaulAA
Thanks, JC Much as I'd like to travel in the TR, it's a 1200km schlep each way and I'm squeezing it in between Junior's Friday and Monday school hours. So Wizzair and a rental tin box it is. Paul
PaulAA
Excellent racing and plenty of action here at Spa. Too much, in fact - most of the last hour of the 6 Hours itself last night was stuck behind the safety car. Eleven Lotus Cortinas in the saloon car racing during the afternoon and plenty of Spits, GT6s and TRs in the classic car park, together with (randomly) a Gilbern Invader, numerous Mini Marcoses, Capri 2.3RS, a Peerless, several big Triumph saloons and a spotless Hillman Imp (just... why?) triumphlux
And a Triumph Herald/Vitesse which had a very nice welcome from the belgian Triumph Club I forgot that you planned to come down, otherwise we could have met for a beer. Have to agree with the racing, an impressive variety of cars and most races with very large grids JC
PaulAA
Damn! We walked (okay, drooled our way) through the car park both on Saturday and Sunday, stared admiringly at the 2500PI in your picture, smiled at the nice lady in the tent, exchanged some unnecessarily harsh father-and-son commentary on one of the TR6s... and missed the Herald! Now that's annoying... Paul
triumphlux
A few pictures from the 6 hour endurance race, very impressive field with 114 cars The Start : Rare and beautiful cars on the grid : The race results are also very interesting : The first 6 cars are Ford GT40 out off 12 starters, number 7 is …. a Lotus Elan 26R and in 18th place a Triumph Tr4 SLR And in 23rd position a Marcos 1800 : What a great race !! JohnD
Nerd Q - why do the cars have strips of black tape across their rear windows? It's 'only' a six hour race - won't be dark and headlights behind won't dazzle? John
PaulAA
John It runs from 4pm to 10pm - second half of the race is in darkness. Paul

JC Thanks for the great picture of our SLR, we were very happy how the weekend went! Qualified 1st in class, as you say 18th overall in the race but we also won the class gts11 with fastest lap too, a 3:03:1. If you have anymore pictures of it could you please post them? Many thanks Tom
triumphlux
Ah, even a member of the Sideways forum racing at Spa and doing extremely well I wasn't aware during the race that its the TR4 SLR and didn't pay much attention. I only realized while checking the results which car it was and what you achived. Don't have many pictures, you should have told us before that you were on the racetrack The start : And during the race : Just drop me you email address via private message if you want to have the original quality pictures.
