Nick Jones
A friend of mine has a Mk4 Spit with a small crank 1300 fitted with a TR5 grind cam. Not sure what has been done to the head. He has a single 45 DCOE Weber on a cross-over manifold (not my favourite thing) and Megajolt distributorless ignition. It goes pretty well. Was very lacking in bottom end performance at first, which was considerably improved by the Megajolt mapping. He's planning EFI using 40mm motorcycle throttle-bodies this year. Depends a bit what you want to do with the car but I suspect that you could do better than the TR5 grind these days - something with more lift. I had a Kent TH3 in my 1300 Herald in the early 90s and that worked quite well with twin 1.25" and 1.5" SUs. Slightly better low end with the 1.25" better top end over 6K with the 1.5". Others will have their own opinions! Cheers Nick

triumphlux
That's the setup that I have in my Spitfire. My engine has the +040 pistons and is running on Megajolt iginition. It also has one of GT's 4-2-1 manifolds. The ignition is well tweaked to make the best of this setup and the carb dampers and inklet manifold have been modified. Which other info do you need? nmallia
Hi, thanks for replies. I'm planning to use the car as a fast road car, that includes the occosional hill climb and track day. Drivability is important and I'm after a usuful power band starting from 2000rpm. I was offered a SAH 357 camshaft too, and was told that it's even better than a TR5 cam at the top, however no mention on drivability. Any knowledge on this cam?
