In return for free pass in, they agree to follow the rules, which minimizes the traffic hit on the server, and keeps what should be searchable up front. There's a China based search engine thats also here all the time which ignores every rule, has no manners, and at times chews 30-45% of our bandwidth, server time, and traffic trying to get into the back end of the software.
