Hi,
It appears as though I joined this forum a while ago and then lost it?

But, here I am!!

I'm a mk 3 spitfire owner in Melbourne Australia, excited to see a few Aussies on here.

have owned the car for a little over two years, It is currently off the road for an engine rebuild and lots of go fast goodies to be added on.

Today I worked at re-organizing my wiring loom which has gotten messy due to the addition of electric fuel pump, radiator fan, denso alternator, 123 ignition and electric tach plus the removal of an alarm that came in the car.

I've gotten my hands on a complete loom from a jag which has more than enough of the right coloured wires to neaten up the whole car.

Am hoping to have a loom that pertains to Lucas colours so that any problems can be easily sorted.

Also got the fuse box (five fuses) from the jag which fitted very nicely in the spitty fuse box spot.

This forum looks great, so modern!
cheers,
Jim

G'Day Jim!

Nice to see another Aussie here, especially another Melbournite!.

I see you're in Carlton, reckon the Sideways Melbourne chapter will need to organise a meeting in Lygon St (We'll add a little class to the place!)

Don't forget to add your car to our Garage, and make sure you let us know what your doing to it (we love go fast bits!)!

Cheers,

Craig (from not far away in Camberwell)

Thanks Craig, Lygon St sounds like a grand idea!

your detailed posts about your gt6 build are entertaining me while i'm stuck hiding from the rain today. ( I WAS planning to ride my bike to get some nice wiring connectors and finish my loom.)

Are you in the TSOA?

Hello and welcome :)

The Melbourne chapter is building.....

I'm familiar with the "awaiting engine rebuild". I've had one awaiting assembly for getting on two years - but fortunately the existing one keeps hanging on in there.

Pics of the whole car would be great!

Cheers

Nick

Hi, jimes, welcome to the asylum.

To reduce picture size, this should work in any Windows:

In "My Pictures" click on your overlarge pic, to outline it.
Then click on "File", top left hand corner.
The drop-down menu should include "Resize Pictures".
Click on that, then choose the new size. I suggest 640 x 480 for board posting.
The resized pic will appear in "My Pictures", with the title appended "Small"

Hey Jim,

Serious sorta storm out there!

The build thread reminds of where I've come from, gets me help and encouragement when I'm stuck or unmotivated, smacks me about when I suggest something stoopid, and excites me about where I'm headed. It encompasses all I enjoy about Sideways.

I propose the Melbourne Chapter meet for coffee soon (Peter, you reading this?).

T.S.O.A., ummm, no. Not yet. It and the T.C.C.V. have both scared me off with their websites/attitudes. I'm happy to be wrong, but I feel like I'll get older just walking into a meeting.

C.

I've been a member of tsoa since I had the car and have only been to two outings. never been on a car run, I always seem to miss them. There WAS a go cart day planned but It got canceled for some unknown reason.
Gotta admit i thought it would be all motorkhanas and old dudes showing me how to fix things, but yeah, none of that :(

mostly I have car fun with a friend who owns a modern celica, we're planning on attempting a hillclimb when my car goes again. I'm pretty excited about that. his mum also has a midget that we'd love to get our hands on and TURN IT EVIL. I wonder If we can stick in it the Rover K series that's sitting out back where I work?

It would be great to be part of a club with younger people in it (or at least with similar interests to me-not sure if IM even young at 32, wait, maybe I'm 33 now?) I keep thinking when I see youngish people in old or interesting cars I should suggest we start something.

I had a go at changing my pics but I think my version of windows doesn't agree with the idea. Never mind I'll figure it out.

have a good weekend!

Hi Jim
Welcome to the Forum
You will find lots of really good advice here and a great bunch of people.
I live in Kew (halfway between Carlton & Craig in Camberwell) & have a '73 TR6 thats not quite on the road yet.
So if there is a meeting of the Sideways Melbourne chapter - count me in!

Yes - I see what you mean but,I actually I have an old moped to ride as the hills are very steep around our place!
Its one of the few powered bicycles allowed to be ridden on bike paths.
Thanks for the offer of help.

At the moment I need a mafia enforcer to help me get my motor back from a "mate" whose supposed to have been working on it but wont deliver it back!
Peter
