JohnD
All, Visited an out-of-the-way scrapyard recently and saw two Elan shells put aside. Didn't get a chance to look closely. I know of the problems with the bonded chassis frame. Are these likely to be of much value to Elan owners? JOhn
GHR630
Elan or Elite John? Elan had famous backbone chassis, Eite (which preceded it) experimented with GRP Unitary construction and a Coventry Climax engine, but I guess you knew that. Apparently the steel embedded in the GRP was not SS or protected so causes probs. Osmosis could be a problem after all this time (50 years)? Lovely cars, Chapman was a genius.... JohnD
Thnaks, george. Defo Elan. I wasn't awere of that detail, but thought that the backbone chassis had similar problems. If it didn't, then these bodies might be more use than I feared. John
