Anyone else going to this tomorrow?

Weather looking pretty piss-poor, but we've got 9 Triumphs of various shades (and a MR2) going along for some wet-weather fun.

Should be good!

New Forest Run

This is why I whipped the roof off and was so keen to pass my MoT! I left at 7:30 this morning, bombed down the A3 (topless, not thinking it might be a tad cold and therefore just wearing a t-shirt!) to Havant, to pick up my mate, so he could work out which way to go. We then bombed along the M27, I having now put on a shirt as well, and filled up with some unleaded on the way, where some bikers said "Nice car lads". We then gently hit the road again, with the speedo not going above 65mph it was a nice ride down, if stupendously noisy! As we entered Ringwood we suddenly gained an entourage of TRs, and parked up (where someone very kindly videoed my car's inability to idle and sharp clutch combining to make doing a three point turn very hard!).

Some madman had let a dog buy a Stag, which he was offering for sale. Annoyingly, this Cavalier wouldn't tell us why he was selling... or indeed how he drove a manual car!

Plaque attached... to the inside of the windscreen, we hit the road at about half past ten. Excellent (or not) photos from Dan now follow!

I struggled to keep up with this Vitesse when he put his foot down... found out later he was running a 2.5 litre engine!

This was very funny. There was also a sign saying "Sandy Balls", but Dan only got some shrubbery near to it

Then we came across some Ferraris...

So, having gone off the road for them, I revved... some revved back. I was louder!

Dan using his unusually long arms to take high photos, this one of that Vitesse, as we wait to cross a road.

A Moggy!
Then we move into my photos at the lunch break, I was parked at the front of one of the columns! (Until someone parked a Stag there... ).

Then we left, for the last 20 miles. Possibly, my trip counter has gone from underreading by epic amounts to being slightly over, and I never know what it's doing! Seems alright at the moment though... Anyway, following the only two Magenta Triumphs:

Motorsport At The Palace 2012

The dates for this event next year have just been announced:

26 and 27th May 2012
See the website at http://www.motorsportatthepalace.co.uk/

I enjoyed my weekend there this year, my first, and I'll hope to be there again for 2012. Crystal Palace is a historic motorsport venue, now reduced to a short sprint track, but in a beautiful park setting and so close to Central London that it's linked by the London Overground to the Docklands Light Railway and the Tube. Camping is available in the Park, free of charge and the event is supported by many classic car clubs, so there's more than just sprinting to see.

Hope that this doesn't conflict with the TRR Sprint/Hillclimb series, and to see you there next year! IT wowuld be nice to have more than just two Vitesses on track!

All-Triumph Relay Race Team At Snetterton, Sunday 2Nd October!

All,
Some will remember this picture of the Spitfire Squadron at the 2008 Birkett Relay Race.
We had a good time, as well as getting a good result and the picture shows it!

But the Birkett has gone modern, with very fast lap times and, to some, less courteous driving.
So I'm delighted to find that the MGCC has organised another Relay Race, specificly for Classics.
The British Motor Heritage Relay Race has been running for two years, and is rapidly becoming as popular as the Birkett. This year's event will be at Snetterton on Sunday the 2nd October, and we
have an "All_Triumph" team competing.
We need you there!
We need your help in the garage if repairs are needed, on the pitwall recording the laps and out on the circuit 'spotting' our cars in case there is a break-down.

The Team will be:
A - Les Congdon - Spitfire
B - John Davies - Vitesse
C - Clive Gimson - GT6
D - Alistair Pugh - GT6
E - Neil Revington - TR5
F - Jon Wolfe - GT6

The race will start at 1400 on Sunday 2nd Oct, with qualifying in the morning, after three other races left over from the racing on Saturday. If you would like to help, please let me know as soon as possible - I may have
a few tickets left so first comers get any available!

I'll look forward to seeing you there!

John Davies
Manager, All-Triumph relay team.
Nicely put together but it illustrates the need for speed we've always had....

Round Denmark Reliability Run 2011

In just a little less than three weeks Round denmark reliability Run kicks of for the third time. The Mad Welder is working franticly to get his spitfire ready. Last time I visited him we replaced the engine. Hopefully he will have it running by sept. 2.

We are 8 (perhaps 9 ) older british cars that will be doing 2.000 KM in 36 hours. Anybody want's to join, please come along. It is absolutely free (well, apart from food and fuel, plus a small ferry-fare)

Here is a link to the routeplan

Cheers

Macleans Bridge At Lakeside Show

I went to the Classis and Sports Car Show here in Brisbane a couple of weeks ago. Allot of polishing going on but also some interesting stuff brought along for the free track run in the afternoon.
I've put a few pictures up here; (hope this works...)

MacLeans Bridge at Lakeside Raceway 2011

Includes a few gratuitous ram pipe, suspension and louvre shots.

I'd be interested in any comments. Especially the Severn suspension layout and the Red car
