I enjoyed my weekend there this year, my first, and I'll hope to be there again for 2012. Crystal Palace is a historic motorsport venue, now reduced to a short sprint track, but in a beautiful park setting and so close to Central London that it's linked by the London Overground to the Docklands Light Railway and the Tube. Camping is available in the Park, free of charge and the event is supported by many classic car clubs, so there's more than just sprinting to see.

Hope that this doesn't conflict with the TRR Sprint/Hillclimb series, and to see you there next year! IT wowuld be nice to have more than just two Vitesses on track!

School was in the way... but no matter, it started a 7:30

Seen this Spit before - had to "neuter" it with some naff exhaust caps so it was under the noise limit! TR6 2.5 straight six, fuel injection, side exit exhausts, no roof, little windscreen... AWESOME!

All-Triumph Relay Race Team At Snetterton, Sunday 2Nd October!

All,
Some will remember this picture of the Spitfire Squadron at the 2008 Birkett Relay Race.
We had a good time, as well as getting a good result and the picture shows it!

But the Birkett has gone modern, with very fast lap times and, to some, less courteous driving.
So I'm delighted to find that the MGCC has organised another Relay Race, specificly for Classics.
The British Motor Heritage Relay Race has been running for two years, and is rapidly becoming as popular as the Birkett. This year's event will be at Snetterton on Sunday the 2nd October, and we
have an "All_Triumph" team competing.
We need you there!
We need your help in the garage if repairs are needed, on the pitwall recording the laps and out on the circuit 'spotting' our cars in case there is a break-down.

The Team will be:
A - Les Congdon - Spitfire
B - John Davies - Vitesse
C - Clive Gimson - GT6
D - Alistair Pugh - GT6
E - Neil Revington - TR5
F - Jon Wolfe - GT6

The race will start at 1400 on Sunday 2nd Oct, with qualifying in the morning, after three other races left over from the racing on Saturday. If you would like to help, please let me know as soon as possible - I may have
a few tickets left so first comers get any available!

I'll look forward to seeing you there!

Fastest Triumph In The World, And It's A Gt6

On 15th August at the Bonneville Speedweek,

Keith Copeland and Black Rock Racing took their 1971 GT6-3
(modified) to a new modified sportscar record of 305.596 mph, which beat the old record of 237.871 mph.

The engine was class C, and the body was class BFMS.

They were forced to slow down due to an engine fire...

MODIFIED SPORTS - /BFMS, /FMS, /BGMS, /GMS

This class is intended for production sports cars as accepted for GT class which have been modified to such an extent as to make the vehicle illegal for the Production Category. This class is limited to production, a minimum of 500 vehicles of the same model for sale to the general public, sports cars, examples of which include Chevrolet Corvette, Porsche 911, Mazda RX7, and Nissan Z series automobiles.
This class may run Nitrous Oxide, but will be advanced two (2) engine classes.
Engine classes allowed are: AA, A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I

But wait, there's more!

It has a 364 cubic inch V8, it's Front Wheel Drive and had a best one way run of 313 mph!

Round Denmark Reliability Run 2011

In just a little less than three weeks Round denmark reliability Run kicks of for the third time. The Mad Welder is working franticly to get his spitfire ready. Last time I visited him we replaced the engine. Hopefully he will have it running by sept. 2.

We are 8 (perhaps 9 ) older british cars that will be doing 2.000 KM in 36 hours. Anybody want's to join, please come along. It is absolutely free (well, apart from food and fuel, plus a small ferry-fare)

I went to the Classis and Sports Car Show here in Brisbane a couple of weeks ago. Allot of polishing going on but also some interesting stuff brought along for the free track run in the afternoon.

The CSCC has arranged to return to the Eifellrennenn meeting at the Nurburgring in September, 9-11th. That's interesting. What's exciting is this post from Christian Marx on the TRR website:

Hi,
my name is Christian Marx - from Germany.

Maybe you already know that in September from 9th to 11th the works team manager Kas Kastner will come to Germany to stay at the Nurburgring to have good times with the Eifelrace on the Nordschleife.

I think it would be a nice surprise for him to be surrounded by the old works cars Triumph had made at that time.
And I think if loads of Triumph people will appear on the scene too and have some fun to drive with their cars on the famous Nordschleife and meet Kas Kastner in person it would be a unique event for all.

My question is how the best way to contact the works cars owners to talk them over to come to the "Ring" to present their cars?

I can offer free entrance to the paddock with the works cars.

Can I ask for some help with this?

I hope everyone knows of Kas, the man who took Triumphs, in the form of TRs 4-6, Spitfires, GT6s, and even a Vitesse, the Candy Box to racing success in the USA. His handbooks have revived his fame, and I'm rather excited to think I might meet him!

Chris is keen to put on a good show for such an important visitor, so if you have a works car, or even a replica, let him know. If you can't use the TRR website, tell me and I'll pass your message on.

MSA disabled indication - John Davies?

I'm in the final phase of preparing the race car for appearing in the CSCC Swinging Sixties series this year.

I'm a daily warfarin user, and therefore have to display an MSA compliant disabled sticker next to the race number.

The blue book says a 60mm white 'D' on a 90mm x 90mm blue background. But what shape? Square? Circle?

I 'think' I saw a 'D' on John's car at Le Mans this year - and being a medical man maybe he'll know.
