Triumph Spitfire Gt6 Front Spoiler

Ok guy's Ive spoken to Graham at T6 Fabrications and we have come up with some numbers.
Here is the spoiler we are wanting to do.

Ok so we would firstly need to get an original spoiler. Im gonna try to get the Swiss race team owner to send an original to Graham at T6.
This will reduce the production costs. Now 15 would be the smallest amount we could produce and Graham said that they would cost about £100 each.

Iam willing to take four so I have some spare and I'm thinking of bribing the original owner with One as a thank you for sending the original one over. I'm planning to cover the transport costs to and from the original owner so all thats needed now is To find out who else would potentially want one for about £100+ delivery. In total we would need to sell another 10 so please stick your name down and I'm going to start trying to negotiate with the original's owner. I really want to make this work out as I think it really belongs on the T6. As I'm sure you have noticed I will be loosing out (financially) alot on this so we can actually get it done. Fingers crossed.

Hi Everyone

Don't think I have asked this before, but I bought an unusual hard top at a show several months ago and would be interested to know when and who produced it. I have seen a couple of others on race cars over the years. It go's well with the SAH bonnet I have.
Cheers

Is The Relay Buggered?

My overdrive (D type) didn't engage, so after checking that the relay clicked in and out I moved on to the solenoid.. I removed the little cover on the gearbox to check for movement... there was none!
I then tried to hook up the solenoid to a live feed (the same one which feeds the relay) and with this feed the solenoid works!!

Hmmm. I then tested the relay (engaging switch) which gave 12.66 on the multimeter... I tested the wire between the relay and solenoid and this gives the same reading...
The direct live feed gives 12.73... how can 0.07 volts make a difference?

Could the relay be faulty, or is my multimeter simply crap??

Battery Relocation

I recently came up 25' of 1/O battery cable fo FREEEEE! This means the battery cable is headed directly to the trunk without passing go or collecting $200. Question is who are people doing it? Are you just extending the lead going to the solenoid? I'm guessing the ground still just goes straight to the car body. The posts on my start solenoid are getting pretty wobbly so I also score a free replacement. I was thinking of mounting the solenoid in the truck so that I don't have that massive 1/O cable to accidentally ground out on something, instead I could run the large cable to starter and another to run the accessories. At least this way if it rubs and grounds out it's only a smaller wire. I would also like to put a relay in between so I can cut all power in an emergency. What are thoughts?

Also I wast just going to wire the new solenoid like so, with the switch(button) going to ground.

DR3A Wiper Motor Alternatives

Went to the "Super Car" event at C/Combe today 'cos I fancied a day out. Bit if a wash out in all senses of the phrase really but was nice to catch up with SteveA again. The precipitation showed up one of the major weaknesses of my car and that is the silly DR3A wiper motor. I have lost count of how much I have spent on these over the years and this one has had the gear changed several times, but it did it again in the pouring rain today i.e the wipers would stop at a point on the screeen and the gear and worm slipped making an horrendous sound - no choice but to pull over and give them a tug. This continued to deteriorate until I had no wipers.

My question, is it possible to substitute the later (far superior) type motor for the DR3A?? The wiring differences don't worry me but are there any other mechanical or siting issues? Has anyone done this??

I'm sure I had read a thread by Léon somewhere about LED alternative bulbs, but I can't seem to find it now. During the last RBRR I was reminded again how poor the standard rear lights can be on Triumphs, so I was going to switch over to LED bulbs for the rear lights in my GT6. I bought a pair of stop/tail LED bulbs on eBay, but to the eye they do not nook as bright as the old filament bulbs.
They were 36 LED bulbs and I hoped they would have been better, but I guess as usual they are not all made equal. I'm not the greatest at car wiring so I need a bit of help!

I need to put in a feed from the ignition switch to the alternator. I've located the cables I need around the back of the switch but unfortunatly someone has been there before me and stripped a short length of insulation and soldered in wires going to the radio. Even more unfortunate is the fact that they have also nicked the insulation between the soldered joint and the ignition switch.
When I went looking for a vintage racing GT6, I tracked one down with 35 years of competition history 2 hours from my house. It wasn't for sale, and I wasn't too excited about it anyway because it was primer and rust and in need of a lot of help. So I went and bought my current project, and not a month later the sod puts the car on Craigslist for 4000 dollars, which I would have paid him. Fast forward to the local Historic Motor Races a couple weeks ago where a local doctor showed up with that car, having somewhat sloppily rebuild it and painted it Candy Apple Red. Funny that that was the gallon of paint I had just had delivered to my shop for my car. Too late to make a long story short, but I just finished painting the frame and underbody New British Racing Green. I want to break that up a little, so I am looking for ideas when it comes time to do the top of the car. I am thinking about a yellow snout, which is not uncommon, but I am never sure if I like that combination. Also wondering whether to paint the large front suspension supports BRG? and the rest black???? Decisions decisions......
